Last time we went I was amazed by just how big France is and at the moment I'm looking at maps, working out distances and they are adding up. We now need to be at Brive on the 21st. to meet our daughter off a flight from London. Amazingly a direct flight from City airport was actually cheaper than any of the discount airlines and she can fly from somewhere about twenty minutes from home.
Inevitably the discussions over the weekend turned to where to go in France and the mileage involved really adds up, to the point where I need to ring the insurers this morning and increase the annual mileage from 5,000 to 10,000, or I won't be far off the annual limit when we get back. It does make you realise how close all are to each other in this Country, as it's easily possible to visit most historic sites in a fortnight, whereas in France you need a lot longer to do it without living on the road between sites.
There is a danger of running into the 'It's Wednesday, so this must be Paris' scenario, where meeting a deadline is more important than what you actually do, so I've put the maps away for now and will worry about where to go when we get there.
