Has anyone any information please on current diesel availability, price & forecourt queues in Northern England & Scotland ?. We have been delaying setting off on a tour of the Highlands & Hebrides because South Devon to North Uist & back = a lot of fuel; are we being too pessimistic ?. Thanks.

Get ure selves off, as long as you have enough to get there, who cares about coming home

No problems here in Sheffield

There seems to be plenty of fuel. The Motorway services at Washington (A1M) last weekend was advertising low cost fuel at £144.9 for diesel.

Tesco Stockton diesel £144.9 yesterday Morrisons Darlington £145.9 today

Currently £1.47.9 a litre at Lockerbie, Perth is a good ploace to fuel at the Tesco just off the A9 usually 5 or 6 p cheaper. Scotland is lovely and well worth visiting and if you are going to the islands you now get a fairer deal on some of the crossings and in time all of them will be priced acording to how much it would cost you if you could drive on water! Search here for prices in the area you are going to - Free UK fuel prices. Over 11,000 petrol stations covered - PetrolPrices.com

Me I'm heading to France - 1 tank of fuel gets me out of the UK where the fuel and LPG are cheaper (Less Tax!!) and I feel a little less ripped off by the state. Support http://www.fairfueluk.com in the fight for common sense.

Loads around here now. There was a supply issue till Tuesdsay this week

North East England diesel is about £1.48, no forecourt que's up here, we can't afford to fill our tanks unlike the rich people down south. :D

My thanks to Kimbowbill (spelt correctly this time !), John Thompson, Torwood, Nij & n7ogp. Thanks to your diesel info we'll be confidently setting off in a couple of days. (before the beer panic starts !). Fuel availability is much better now in S Devon but was not so good a few days ago.

ps: I've never seen the M5 Southbound so quiet on the eve of a public holiday.

£1.47.9 on Skye at the Broadford Coop yesterday, if coming this way fill up at Fort William (Morrison's) and nowhere after until Skye as the garages after FW. on the mainland do not get the benefit of the 5p. reduction in duty islanders "benefit" from.
Outer islands, Uist, Harris, Lewis are dearer than Skye as I disovered 10 days ago...
