Diesel in Scotland

We're shortly on our trip to Skye and then on to Clachtoll and hope the fuel stations are plentiful and easy to find. Would rather not use supermarket diesel if possible (although it's less expensive going in), but sometimes there's no option.

Your experience would be welcome.

you will find a decent filling station on Skye and on the mainland there are qyute a few mostly near the towns and villages..the only problem is if you really far up to the likes of Durness...they become fewer so always make sure you have enough. Expect to pay a few more pennies per litre though.

At all costs avoid the services on the M74 south of Glasgow - I got caught out last month and paid the most per litre I have ever paid.
My advice is the same as the use of public toilets in strange cities - 'Never miss the chance to ..... top up' in Northern Scotland or the Isles and don't get caught with a long journey and an empty tank on a Sunday.

Scottish Hoilday

Hi for the last 30 years we have topped up with fresh water from the Highland Council dept on the A 894 where it meets the A 837 Lochinver rd if you come down the A 894 the tap is on the left hand side of the road by the sand bays

Dearest Ullerpool
The garage at Inverinate on the A87 the side of Loch Duich is not bad for fuel they also have a water tap by the calor gas store

Far side of Fort William on the junction where you turn left for Mallaig, does lpg as well.

Morrisons at Fort William also has an available water tap, ask at the garage, it's on an end wall.
Coop at Broadford on Skye is the "cheapest" on the Island
Water tap outside the Public toilets on the left a few yards beyond the Coop.
Water at the Public toilets in Dunvegan.
Water hard to get around Portree, I know of nowhere.
Garage at Uig "may" let you get water.
Don't buy fuel from the garage at the base of Glen Shiel...price is Ouch!
Ask about water in village shops, someone usually knows someone (like me) with an available outside tap.
