We get off the ferry in Dieppe near to midnight, I was thinking of staying at the aire just 1/2 a mile down the road. I see there is a 12euro charge with an automatic card machine thingy.
Has anyone stayed there and do they charge on Entry or Exit ? Not sure I want to be messing around with trying to open a barrier with my bank card at midnight.
I'm not staying in the DFDS carpark, it's too noisy for me.

Dieppe air by the ferry

Stayed a few times, you pay by card on exit if my memory serves me, by collecting your entry ticket. It is as noisy as the quayside so haven't stayed for a long time. I can manage on the quay so not a problem for me

If you look in the POIs you will see there is a car park atop the cliffs overlooking the port.

I have stayed there and it's as peaceful as you like ... And free!

Agree keyside a tad noisy esp when ferry arrives but we were that tired we usually conk oot and hear very little ,never stayed up on cliff top but may give it a try next time cheers chris ,last time we arrived it was a storm and we took shelter a cliff aires

Good spot . Only a few minutes walk into town

I stayed at an aire in Cleres n49.60212 e1.116721 it is about 35mins from Dieppe and it is free.

We stayed last year at the free Aire at Mesnières-en-Bray, 18 miles down the D1 from Dieppe if that isn't too far for you - peaceful as you like

We have stayed at the paying aire several times - very comfortable night and very easy to operate. You collect your ticket on the way in and pay at the machine on the way out. Have a good trip.

So we stayed at the Aire near the ferry when we docked at night, all fine and as said pay on exit 12.50 euro.
On the way home we were going to stay on the aire in town but was full so we went to the top off the cliff POI and had a great night there, coast path walk for the 🐶 too. Local restaurant nearby is a bit pricey at 60 euros meal!
The ferry must have a huge carbon footprint, it leaves the engines running always, hours on end at dock, for the generators I suppose? Could hear it at the aire and on top of the clif too.
