Did abit of wild camping down Cornwall last week (video)

I thought it was there as well:D

Cheers Jed, great vid' as always. Wish I could get to have the places you do!

Great pics and vids as usual Jed. They certainly capture the real spirit of wilding although you do appear to be on a campsite at the end! My pics and vids always turn out crap

Nice vid.
Do you need 4 wheel drive to get to that beach?
Looks like quite a blowout, were you going fast when it happened?

Aha! I know that first night stop. It's a particular favourite of mine! It's always fun trying to get my LWB Movano up the hill round that bend, especially on a wet morning. What you didn't show are the 2 granite posts roughly 8mm wider apart than a Movano at the bottom of the hill!

Unfortunately, last time we were here the entire year 10 and 11 of the local senior school decided to join us for an un-official leavers party. To be fair, apart from the 3 bin-bags of bottles and rubbish (and 2 mobile phones and 1 wallet) we collected the next morning they were as good as gold.

Top video!

Yeh some motor homes wouldnt get down their due to the hill, bend and posts and there is a sign up sayng no camping. Thats why I like it down their, its enough to put off the satellite TV brigade and is mainly used by those with agile vehicles, saying that we had it all to ourselves. We had a quick rally round and filled half a bin bag full of the odd bit of crap here and their. When the National Trust warden turned up at 8.30am we gave him the bag to take with him and he wished us a pleasant stay ;)

Begging for info!

Hi Jed, looking at the date of this post i see it's pretty old! but as a wild camping fanatic from North Devon i coulnd't let up the very slim possibility that you would let me in on such an incredible spot?
Up until recently i've been a tent and open fire camping sort of girl! but have now been offered the privelage of borrowing a friends Camper for a few weeks and would seriously love to find some good out of the way places to take it!
I'm used to just walking anywhere with my tent and setting up wherever takes my fancy. but now with a camper in tow access is more limited and i am at a loss for good places to take it, away from touristy places and mod con campsites!!

I would be incredibly grateful if you could let me in on your secret as it looks PERFECT!

PS if it's one of those "if i tell you i'd have to kill you" places, you can tell me and kill me afterwards, but i just have to see it at least once! :p It's so rare that you find truly great places away from the crowds these days!

Thanks, Ceri

There are loads of beaches like this in Cornwall. All it takes is a bit of perseverance with an OS map and you'll find them.
"Happy Valley" is still quite unspoilt because of the hairpin bend. Most Motorhomes would not get around it. It is only the smaller vehicles ie VWs and the like that will manage it.
Funnily enough, I was talking to the man who runs the Tin processing place and asked him if he ever knew the man who used a Land Rover to collect tin sand after a storm - turns out that it was his Dad.

The nearest campsite that would enable you to use this little beach would be Blue Hills Camping Great site: Gary and Lou are some of the best site owners that I have met. One of my personal top 5 sites and that includes the whole of Euroland
