Dicky indicators

Has anybody come across this before.

We have a 2017 Fiat Ducato base vehicle, when we was out on Saturday the indicator started flashing fast and it put the triangular warning light on on the dash. I immediately thought I had a bulb gone but later it started working ok again then the opposite indicator did the same and it was on and off intermittently like that all day, every time I pulled over to check which bulb was out it would work okay. Then the next day it all worked perfectly and has not done it again.

I have to say it was very wet and I'm wondering where the indicator relay is, if they still have one. Has anybody got any thoughts on this.

Sounds like the indicator module if both doing it, could be water also.

Thanks Trev, I did start to think of water ingress when it did both directions and especially when it cleared the next day, I doubted it would be a relay theses days and more an electronic circuit or as you say module. Just need to find it now and waterproof it.

Dry it out with a hair dryer when you manage to find it LOL.

I expect the indicators are controlled from the BCM. Can sometimes be worth disconnecting the battery negative lead for a few mins then connect it again

So much nonsense in modern Vans/cars these days, nothing simple or cheap.

I expect there will be a plug and socket in the loom that's fancied having a bath. Vaseline is good for keeping water out.

slightly different , i recently had left rear indicator intermittantly not working on an iveco daily. eventually found the multiplug on the rear of the cluster was loose , just needed reseating an all has been fine since. not far enough off to affect the other lights though.

Recounting an experience from years ago, I had a car where after a time the indicators would stop flashing during use, turn them off and then back on again and they worked.

It turned out to be a corroded fuse.

My indicators have been on the blink since i bought the motorhome new

I had a similar problem.
The connections in the wires behind the rear light cluster were faulty, one of the wires had come out of the spade clip.
Simple fix, new spade.

Depending who's waving them, could give the wrong signal..

Didnt the Morris Manure have them on early models.

At least back then they didn’t have to pay to flash. Some drivers are so poor they can’t flash at all.
