You can stay at the Park & Ride Marsh Barton, about 4/6 spaces. Macro across the road,
Then Exmouth or Dawlish, maybe Dartmoor for visits.

I lived in Totnes for a few years - before it became Richmond-upon-Thames via Glastonbury! Still a nice town to visit, though. Bigbury, between Plymouth and Kingsbridge, has a lovely beach and an island you can walk across to. Torcross and Slapton have wonderful, expansive beaches. And if you're venturing onto Dartmoor and fancy a hike for a couple of hours, go to Two Bridges and park up, then follow the path to Wistman's Wood - one of the last surviving ancient oak woods on the moor, and a magical place. But then, so is all of Dartmoor.

Have a good trip.

There is a magical little pub called The Highwayman in the village of Sourton just off the A30 toward Okehampton. It a veritable grotto of trinkets and sculptures including a replica of a Sanish Galleon's living quarters...all built by the current landlady's father over a priod of forty years I stopped there a few years back and it has a large carpark, if it's the same landlady I'm sure she'll let you stop the night.....well worth a visit...handy for Dartmoor too.

I can heartily second that! You can't miss the place, either, as its frontage looks like an old stagecoach.

The Rugglestone Inn, near Widecombe, is another good one. One of the oldest inns on the moor, it's like stepping into someone's cosy front parlour - with scrumpy straight from the jar. Far better than the tourist trappings of The Warren House Inn at Postbridge, with it's fire that's been burning for 500 years or however long it is!

Ah! Wistmans Wood! One of my favourite places in the whole world!
Camped up there during the Solstice a few years ago-it was magical!
But why not go a little further and visit beautiful Cornwall!!

HI,
we had a couple of days in Devon recently. We stayed on the way down at Exmoor on the A39 at the very top on the little carparks, fantastic views and after 8pm never saw another sole! Woke up with the sheep all around the van!
We then went to Appledore, stayed on the main carpark - make sure you get 2 tickets if your van overhangs 2 bays, the ticket man was around at 8am and it's a £70 fine if you don't comply! You can walk through the town and over to the Burrows, great for the dogs. There is parking on the Burrows but they have gates which they close at night so there is no overnighting!
We went on to Cornwall after that.
Where ever you go I hope you have a fantastic time.
Lotty
