I Am not a gambling man, never have been so I know little about it, except that I have never seen a bookie on a bicycle & this important observation tells me two things:-

A) They know their business.
B) Its a good business.

So when the first billboard I see when trundling off the ferry is a national bookmaker offering money back on all bets if England should win Euro 2012 it immediatly tells me that Roy & the England squad are banjaxed before they even kick a ball in anger & are going nowhere.

Life is so harsh at times.

Can someone please explain what this is all about.:help:

Well there is this man from Wales He dose not want England to do well in the football. never met him mined you but that say he is never happy:raofl::raofl::raofl:

They have done well against the Frogs! Best England performance for a while, looks like we finally have a manager who knows what he's doing :wacko::dance::cheers:

I only caught the second half and England definitely didn't deserve to lose...I thought they gave a good account.

It is important to remember with bookmakers probable winner scoreline they are not really interested in...odds are lengthened shortened for them to maintain margin, nothing whatsoever to do with probable outcome all to do with where the money is betted..and alternative odds to attract bets accordinlgly.
So margin is maintained

They have certainly got off to a decent start, haven't they? But I don't really think they will do anything remarkable in the competition as a whole. Hope I'm wrong though!

You should have turned the tele on for the match Much more interesting than your hobby :raofl:

I don't think so... I would have gone for the alternative activity of sticking hot forks in my eyeballs

For me and I only saw,the second half, some good one touch football, and they made the French look ordinary..I don't think the Sweden game will be easy, and a test of nerves when they play the Ukraine....but I haven't seen anything yet that we should be in awe of..

We have played as good or bad for the cynics as anyone...else so far.is football coming home?

I hope so if only to irratate the Scots I am currently working with.

There is an inherent dislike of anything English .....so be nice to stuff one up em as the saying goes

Don't mention Peru Channa, they are still tender about that game even though it was nearly 40 years ago.

In Glasgow they killed all the wild Pigeons cos they thought they were taking the Mickey .... Peru, Peru.

I Can't believe that Channa you must be paranoid!

I have a theory, the home nations are like siblings fight tooth and nail at each other and goad at any given opportunity.

But when we are threatened from outside our lands, we all pull together as history would suggest..

I can give my sisters grief but woe be tide anyone else.

I wouldn't have it any other way.

Happy happy memories “Ally's Tartan Army” marching off & singing their way into oblivion.
Apparently somewhere in the Peruvian rain forest a little group still lives on taking turns to share the remaining skirt & refusing to return home until the English have forgotten about it !!!
Just them, Lord Lucan & a couple of Japanese who still refuse to surrender.
Quite touching really.

Ah, it's about football. Time to stop following this thread then. Watching paint dry is FAR superior to football!:fun:

We are still tribal but like in centuries past when the UK is threatened we become one big tribe.

It amazes me how humans build barriers between countries, counties, Towns, villages, valleys even streets or parts of towns.

Those barriers turn into hatred sometimes.

One of the worst examples of this are football supporters.

I'm not a huge lover of football but I will watch it.

I had the chance of a ticket some years ago for the challenge cup in the millennium stadium Cardiff and it was Liverpool v Man united.
I was in the Liverpool end. I don’t support either team but I went for the occasion.

During that game Liverpool were winning and Man united scored and out of the Liverpool end came a huge cheer from a group of about 30 children below the age of 12. They were obviously in the wrong end.
I could not believe the Liverpool fans wanted to attack these youngsters and the stewards had to be called in.
I said to the guys around me. But they are only children and one said "it doesn’t matter they are mancs.

Yet they are all supporting England all together, last week they wanted to kill each other.

I just can't understand that mentality.
