Delays at Dover ?

Hi,

We were at a do yesterday when a neighbour told me that he came back to the U.K. on Saturday night and that there were four hours delay getting through customs.

Anybody else experienced, or heard about this because its news to me ?

Came back 10.days ago no problems . Extra checks on French side but think they've been in place for almost a year ?
Was delay in France ?

Just read a travellers blog. They crossed to France a couple of days ago on the tunnel. Operation Stack effective as they had no delays.

If that were true there would have been masses of vehicles still on the ferries as there is only a limited space between the ferry ramps and the customs shed.

So there would have been reports of severe delays to ferry schedules.

Last time we came back on a quiet Sunday in October there were long delays at Coquelles Terminal, lots of French lazing about doing little and ignoring the traffic, the delays were all down to UK Border Force who couldn't cope. Can't imagine how they'll cope when they have to do customs checks, as well as just look at passports!

I think it was the U.K. customs in France creating the delays.

We were passing each other near the bar and my full attention was elsewhere so I didn't get the full story.

Near Calais...

Hi folks, we are on an Aires just outside Calais. Our ferry is tomorrow around 10am...fingers crossed I'll be reporting no problems.....Maja
