Took Casper in to Stella Motors in Dove Holes this afternoon to have brakes checked after a warning light had come on the dash for brake wear. Didn't know if it was front or rear or all but when I rang to book it in they said they would get everything (disks, pads, shoes whatever it takes) to make sure they had what was needed.

I waited while they did the work and it was done fairly quickly, took longer to pay as the phone never stopped ringing with folks booking work and MOT's. Anyway turned out it was both sets of front pads changed along with new wear leads. Total bill was £73.28 and mh is a Merc Sprinter, bill was itemised and labour amounted to £21 (plus VAT). I haven't used garages for a long time where I have had to pay (last 3 cars have been Motability) so have no idea what costs are but this seemed very reasonable to me, what do you think?

Thanks to Mr Riceman for suggesting them :)

I would say spot on as pads can be any thing from £20 to £100 depending on make /model,then lab which is about £65 to £85 hr in small workshops these days,if the works good id use again as seem honest and did not rip you of.

If they have done a good job it was an absolute bargain.

Hi ya Nabsim,
I think if You’re happy with the Price & Service given, Then That’s good enough.
But I DO know what you mean it would be SO BLINKING ANNOYING if you later found out you could have got it done Cheaper somewhere else after the fact.

Don’t know if you are aware that there’s a ‘Review’ Board for posting Good/Cheap Services from Suppliers, Contractors & Or Business that may warrant a Mention.

Sounds good. Parts could be got for around 30 quid mail order, so taking into account overheads I think they've been very reasonable.

Check your wheel nuts in a couple hundred miles :)

The pads were Apec make as well as the wear indicator leads. I was impressed that they had got a full set for the vehicle so no matter what needed replacing they would have done it all within the hour time slot.

I thought it sounded a good deal, I have been quoted more than that for an hours labour years ago but with not having I needed to pay for since around 2010 I wanted to check, will find the recommendation page methinks. :)
