Dash temperature display on peugeot boxer

my dash temp display is now showing 66C , is that hot or is it faulty

I did see it was warming up, didn't realise it was that much! even the rellies in Oz are only getting 40ish.

It seems to be a common problem on the Peugeot’s etc there is a temp sensor in the drivers side mirror that goes faulty

Its faulty, you need to get to fixed because it impacts on engine management and DPF regeneration . Happily you can buy a cheap one on eBay for about £10 or a genuine one from a main dealer for around £80. Its possible to fit it yourself but I had my mechanic fit it for me who charged one hour labout and he didn't break the mirror glass as I probably would have done, you can find videos on YouTube on the fitting. Don't ignore it or you will regret it

Yes the dash temp controls many things including the DPF mine was also reading 65 c ir was an easy fix , about a tenner from ebay ,some utube videos

Ordered the replacement and watched the video ,spoke to garage who advised to wait till it’s warmer as the glass and plastic backing is brittle, so thanks for replies .

I used a hairdryer on mine to warm it up, worked a treat.

Obviously my own hairdryer.

No sorry, to soften the plastic so I could work on the mirror.

The biggest worry is breaking the glass , they are cheaply avaliable on ebay ,

Its a simple fix, new sensor is about £6.
Remove drivers side mirror housing to find sensor wiring, simply cut it and solder in the new sensor. It doesn't matter which way round the wires go. Mine is now accurate (fir a Fiat!)

Diagnostic £ 150
New sencer £ 90
Labour £ 60
Diy cost , £ 9

They were only fitted from about 2012 'ish onwards I think, maybe latter, also the earlier ones just showed the temp in dash, latter on they also monitored outside temp by ECU for emission/performance control, so a failed one could cause engine problems/limp mode etc.

Exactly, when mine was replaced it made a huge difference it was like a different vehicle and MPG improved as well.
