Damned Dog Hair

Hi ALL.
I am now coming to the end of converting my LDV (ex ambulance) Convoy - and I'm looking for advice on floor covering.

I have a dog called Jack who will be accompanying on what I hope will be many - many wild camping adventures. My problem is the amount of hair that Jack sheds; I am constantly vacuuming at home, but yet it seems to be a loosing battle.

Can anyone suggest a floor covering that will be easy to DE-HAIR but yet not be slippery (wet or dry).

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Kind Regards.

Gerry.

ok to have a hair free zone this is what we do in our van...1st i would brush your hairy friend with one of these... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/DOG-BRUSH-SEL...ameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem#ebayphotohosting

then put these or something similar down.. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TRENDY-DOOR-M...ryZ20588QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem then vacuum everythime you come home with out fail.. then for stubborn hairs use one of these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Dog-Cat-Hairs...goryZ300QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

if all this fails you will have to resort to getting a set of these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LONG-BAMBOO-K...ryZ11799QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
and get knitting using this as a guide http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/KNITTING-WITH...goryZ274QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

good luck mate..samm :D :D :D

Good post Samm, I've just spent 10 minutes having a good giggle.

I have a friend with 2 Jack Russells, they have lovely coats and never seem to moult. I asked her how she did it and ever 8 weeks or so she has them clipped, not shaved, but the coat thinned right out and honest they never moult. She has watched them being done so many times, she bought some dog clippers and now washes them and does it herself.

:) :) :)

dog hairs

we have a german shep and he sheds hair like you would not beleive we have laminated most of the floor use a sot brush to sweep the van out dont think there is any way of not getting dog hair when you take your dog

We've always had carpets in caravans and motorhomes but the van we have now has removable carpets to reveal a linoleum type flooring which I would say would be perfect for animals, (sweetness says its also easier to keep on a day to day basis!)

D****D dog Hair

Like yours my mutt sheds fer england despite constant brushing, my solution laminate flooring, then get 1/2 mats of the type you see in shops & offices.[think Wilkinsons have them]They are rubber backed so water proof woolly type material on top & are scrubable, to remove hair I have found the "SAND DANCE" the best??? Put on your best trainers then slooowly drag your foot over the surface of the mat its amazing how much hair you gather up,far better than any brush or hoover come to that.Try it youll like it not a lot but it works fer me.
Steuart.

you think you have problems

we have 3 siberians in a small 4 berth.
fortunately their fur is really useful. by next year I will have a sleeping bag made from it or rather filled with it. The pillows i have filled are so comfy.

we scrape our carpets. the soles of trainers and sandals are excellent for this. just drag foot back and you end up with all the hair in a ball ready to be picked up and put in bin [we don't use hair off the floor, only what we get when we groom.]

Our friends lined their VeeDub with a silver lino that looks like alloy five bar chequer plate, the ridges give good grip even when wet!
