Get yourself a freeway (Motorway) sticker for around 9 Euro at the border crossing. It is a toll for driving the major roads. Valid for the year and you can drive to hell and back. Get caught without one, you gotta dig deep. If you keep to country roads you don't need it, but better safe than sorry. Freeway gas stations have showers, cost 1 Euro for a shower, !0 Euro deposit for the key, you get it back when you return the key, not the 1 Euro. Truckers use this facility a lot. Go to Prague, it's worth the visit. Wildcamp anywhere of a side street where there is no traffic.
Have fun.David

Czech Republic Motorway Ticket

I can confirm that you need to buy a ticket to use motorways. We were caught out when travelling in Czech Republic by car. We were stopped on motorway about 50 miles after crossing the border. Since the ticket is too small to be seen from a moving patrol car, I can only assume that the staff at the border crossing note those cars with foriegn plates which do not buy a ticket. We were not told that a ticket was necessary, but I (subsequently) discovered is was stated (in English) on a large sign at the border detailing various items of information like speed limits etc etc. Initially we were told we would have to pay £100 on the spot fine, but a bit of pleasant conversation with the officer, then reduced this to £10, so it is worth being nice to them if you do get stopped!
