I believe it's illegal to wild camp In Croatia, Hungary and maybe other areas so i am asking for advise on this. Like is it routinely enforced or only if a resident has made a complaint to the authorities.

It is illegal to Wild camp in Croatia (i don't know about Hungary). Opportunities to do so are rare. Public car parks / Lay by's are on major roads, and there is a constant police presence (patrols etc).
However, there are plenty of motor home friendly sites which have a low rate for parking only over-nighter's.
If you can make yourself clear that you don't need facilities, parking spots can be cheap.
Or... Use the free parking spots during the day to sleep in, and drive at night :)

We found 2 in Hungary

But Sites are cheap
Maybe a few more but difficult to find.
Now we are more "practiced" maybe we would do better ?
Perhaps Museum or Monastery car-parks just to overnight
The thermal baths are nice.
This was 2014 !

I would not risk it, plenty of cheap sites about, especially inland and away from the coast.

Albania

Apparently the Green card my insurance company are sending doesn't help in Albania and i will have to pay at the boarder. If any body as any bad vibes about these places please post as i like to keep away from trouble.

Be very weary of wild camping, look out for the skull/crossbones, signs thousands of mines there, it is said it will take up to 30/40 years to clear them all. That is if they keep looking!
