Our new certificate arrived the other day and it has Crit'air 4 on it. After reading all the info on WC I decided to query it. Vehicle is a FIAT > 3500 150bhp Diesel first registered in May 2016 so has Euro 5+ engine. Got a reply today stating that it should be Crit'air 2. I did not fill the box in that asks the category because I was unsure. So looks like they have a fall back position. Getting a refund and have re-submitted the form but put Crit'air 2 this time and also sent a copy of their email saying it should be Crit'air 2.

Hope you don't mind me asking but how did you finally get the correct category... did you query it with Crit'Air themselves or with Fiat?
I'm more than a bit confused about the whole certificate thing :rolleyes2:

My reading of the situation

Is that as long as you have a medium category it will make little difference.
There will obviously be situations where say level 3 is Ok and level 4 is not.
But this may well change the next day as pollution levels vary

Given the OPs 2 level change he has done well to get this sorted !

Mines 2012 transit but on a 15 reg 3850kg came back as level 3 not sure if it's right they must be coining it in from all the applicants

I sent them an email and asked if the Crit'air certificate was correct as others I know ( Little white lie ) have a different number. They then emailed and asked for a copy of the V5 which I sent. They have now confirmed that it should be Crit'air 2 and not 4. I filled in a new application with copy of V5 and their email and paid again. In their email they said they would refund the first one as it is incorrect.

A lot of this must be just done by computer and they have a look at any errors when they arise. I should have filled the category on the form in but I was unsure which one so left it blank thinking they would sort it. So their computer system must automatically put a number in without any input from staff.

@minisorella

I just filled in the form on the 'Store' bit of the Crit'Air website but had second thoughts before hitting the button and did some digging.

The Crit'Air website want to charge 29.65 euros, whereas the French Government website here - https://www.certificat-air.gouv.fr/en/demande-ext/cgu - only charge 4.80 euros.
Am I missing something or is the first site just charging over-inflated prices? It is the same thing, isn't it? Also, I can't find any indication whether the certificate has an expiration date or lasts indefinitely?

Yours truly,
Confused of Sussex :rolleyes2:

NOTE TO SELF

Must read the whole page

..
to be fair, the fault is not your reading but the list ...

I posted this a few days ago but they have used the wrong symbol for light commercial (should be "<" and not ">" )
