I heard this yesterday, what do you think?

The government has spent £200 billion proping up the finance houses, who have only ever had one guiding principal....... to smother their slimy torso's with as much filthy lucca as they can avoid tax on.

Another way, We are as a population of this country some 65 million souls, man, woman and child. If the government sent every one of us a cheque for £1,000,000. then we could ............ pay off our mortgages, so stimulating the building societies to have available funds, Go on spending sprees to buy new cars, motorhomes or caravans:eek: well perhaps not caravans;).

Go on holidays to stimulate the tour industries...... those of us nearing retirment could retire early so lowering the unemployment levels as younger people take up those jobs, so saving the social security budget millions.
Those of us stupid enough could even give some to the banks to look after, so easing the pressure of them not wanting to loan money, we could start home improvements, so stimulating the building trade, go out and buy new outfits, so the high street could take on more staff.

Go out on the town having a nice expensive meal and a few pints, so giving a usefull jolt to the pubs and restaurants.

Doing this, the Government would still have over £199 billion left for bankers bonuses and pensions.:rolleyes::mad::D

My sister in law worked for the government (public sector) and she is now retired and drawing a pension which is more than my wages and we (you /me) are paying for it while we only get the state minimum pension:eek::mad:
I reckon that all public sector workers should get no more than the rest of us as we are all as important in our own ways:D
I do get a little fed up when I hear public sector workers slagging of the hand that feeds them.
I would swap any day:):)

I think Sir Fred and his millionaire friends will be delighted to hear that - "divide and rule" always was the plan.

I am a public sector worker and what really gets my goat up, is that when times are good and we are at the bottom of the pile earning pittance wages with no bonuses, no perks and government set pay rises that have averaged over the last 10 years at about 2% a year below the private sector. No one gives a S**T about us......... but a soon as the private sector has to suffer a little WE become the scapegoats........ I pay a heavy price for my pension, it is paid for at 6.8% of my wage...... and then those that try and stop me from getting it, when they havn't made a provision when times were good. Then DON'T BLAME US.

AND DON'T forget as public employees we also pay our council tax so in effect we are paying part of our own wages, are any in the private sector doing that?:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Like Solwaybuggier said devide and rule. Take a look at the comments seems to work a treat even between the private a public sectors. What we need is unity.

We have been taking a pay cut ........ compared to the private sector for the last 10 years ..... falling behind private sector wages at a rate of 2% per year........... but then we all got your sympathy and support to feed us through the lean times......... and as the public budgets get cut ....as they are now, 2 part time assistants at our place have been given notice....... with more to come.

The Gutter press are trying to divert the workers anger away from the real culprits for this crisis, THE BANKS AND INSURANCE AND FINANCE HOUSES i.e. CAPITALISM ...... and on to fellow sufferers .... other workers........ don't get taken in . WE have been at the bottom of the pile for so long, it is all we know. I have anger at this situation but it is directed at those that brought it on our heads not the rest of my fellow workers that have nothing but my support. But what I will not tolerate is that anger being directed upon the public sector worker. He/she has always had the problem even when everyone else was rubbing their hands and filling thier pockets.

Also, if I go to a doctors or dentist appointment or any other type of appointment, I loose money as I am not paid.:mad::mad:
I would gladly accept a 2% pay cut to receive all the perks that public sector workers receive;);)

Niether am I, I have to go in my own time or make up the time  Me thinks you have been reading Mr Murdochs lousy lies.

Was the figure £1M or £100,000 (too tired to do the maths :() From a selfish point of view I'd vote for it :D Trouble is it would lead to massive inflation so we'd probably end up like Zimbabwe. Then again I suppose that might happen anyway .....

My name is JJ and I want to apply for the job of Tresrikay's campaign manager...

Tresrkay for president...

Vote now...

I have not stopped crying since I read of your plight. Job for life, guaranteed pension and doing very little whilst you are at work. The civil service creates laws to self propagate so as to protect itself. Try getting out in the real world where some of us try to exist, it's very difficult, mainly because of obstacles (rules and regs) put in place by civil servants,

Are you an advisor to the clowns running the country? 65 million x £1 million =
65,000,000,000,000 or 65 trillion quid, not the 1 billion you seem to suggest.
£200 billion is = to 200,000 people getting 1 million each.

I do agree with the notion that the money paid out to the banks should have been shared out between the bottom tax bracket workers, and help re-imburse the savers, who are now loosing out, whose money it was in the first place (money lost by the inept banks).

PS one of ours math is wrong :D

Mine is based on I billion being 1,000,000 million i.e, 65 million people getting a million each would be 65,000,000 million. However I am aware that the yanks billion is not the same as ours and I am unsure whether we use ours or thiers when calculating such unimaginable numbers...... but whatever it was only meant as a bit of a joke...... i am not wanting Darlings job, god forbid i only have enough left at the end of the month for a couple of pints......... being a guilt edged.... timewaster..... and public purse swallower that i am earning 2 grand less than a newly qualified teacher, 5 grand less than a rooky police man, about the same as the lowest squady....... and about 5 grand less than an average site manager in the private sector ....... but hey thats a cross i have to bear, being such a squanderor of the public purse.

Had wondered if you were referring the old english billion as opposed to the modern american version. The bit at the end about spending 200 billion bailing out the banks convinced me otherwise. 200 billion of old english would be a lot of money.

did think it might be a bit in jest - hard to tell on tinternet.

reading about your woes, trust me the building trade aint a lot of fun, averaging a 4 day week now (20% drop in income), guess its gonna get worse yet. Lookin on the bright side a least i still have work for the time being.

Things can only get better............ seem to have heard that before

Happy wild camping

200 billion works out a little over 3 grand each ,but i agree far better we have it than the bankers

Trust me I know where you are coming from, I had my own business in the last recession and i tried so hard to hang on building narrowboats. I went from 2 years work to zilch and went under owing 3 grand to the bank.
They were absolute Bas***ds and cut up my cards in front of me and it took a long time to pay them back.
I took a job as a caretaker on an absolute pittance and had to work my way back up taking 10 years to get back to the wage i was on as self employed..... but i did it and now i am in a position of responsibility and paid fairly, though i could earn a lot more in the private sector. I went for a job 3 years ago that paid 8 grand more , but the pension was bobbins and the boss a tyrant , so I stayed where i am but what I can't stand is those that blame me and my hard working colleagues for the mess that the banks have put us in.......... 2 years ago those moaners would not have swopped with me for a golden handshake but now, they seeth because my job MAY be safe........So how come we had a meeting this week to sort out how we save money before souls walk out the door.
