We are going to rhe Pyrenees in a weeks time . We may cross the border several times. I doubt footpaths will be affected, but road crossings you have to fill in an online form. Has anyone done this recently? Is it onerous? It did see something about contacting the French consulate and paying a fee

Hi. We got back on Sunday (after 4 weeks). Did all the paperwork but no fees involved. The Spanish one seems to be for flying in but still did it. Also, never got stopped at either borders to show papers. Did the online one to return to the uk, along with QR code on phone but again never had to show it at passport control. I suspect it is linked to your passport so they know if you have filled it in. Good luck.

The French one is a declaration to say you have no symptons etc.

Earlier this year, minor border crossings between Spain and Portugal we’re closed. Unmanned, with barriers. 60cm sewerage pipes filled with sand, across the road. Leaving only 9 or 10 of the busier crossings open.
Now whether this was a unilateral decision made by the Portuguese, or if the Spanish were involved, I don’t know. But it’ll be unlikely that the French would miss a trick 😶.
Probably best to be prepared for a bit of backtracking . All adds to the fun.

Hi - On Tuesday, we crossed the Pyrenees, north to south, at the Bielsa Tunnel. I had already checked to see if we needed to fill in any forms etc but it seems that they only apply if you are coming in to Spain by sea or air. There were no checks at the border and we just drove straight through as normal. A week earlier, some friends crossed at the western route, via Biarritz, and similarly had no problems.

Earlier, when we entered France (by ferry) we had to present the downloaded "sworn Statement" from the French government website but that was all.
