I'm choosing to go and not sent there but I found one place near Whitly Abbey School, that was while they were not in school. Just wondered if anyone knew some nice spots as it seems I'm renewing my ties with the city on my wilding trips. On my visit about a week ago I got a pull from the local filth, apparently I was driving to slow for them. When I was last there they banned me for driving to fast, but life was a little faster pace in the eighties!

When I lived there, they closed the whole West Midlands Crime Squad for corruption. Clearly I must be prepared for harrasment from the filth and arrange several places to stay!

Much appreciated for any advice on stopping places!

Hi Craig,

No particular area, just somewhere quiet and nice where I can take the dog a walk off the beaten track. Although Coventry has changed a little since I lived there I find the places I knew to built up or noisy. Plus I don't enjoy the filth hounding me certainly a shock when you done nothing wrong!

My partner is visting her mother in Walsgrave Hospital or whatever new name they call it. So we intend to float around a few nice spots if possible around the city. Safety is an important key I brought my boat up one time but it was to dangerous to enter the city by canal.

I do note most of the city areas are made Gypsy proof with height bars and trenches so my own memory is not all that good!

You can't be Craig in Coventry, I'm Craig in Coventry. There can be only one :D

Have seen a vam do the odd night in one of the Memorial Park Car Parks, but not sure where I'd like to leave the van though.

Whitley School has been bulldosed and rebuilt a while back

craigh - where abouts are you in the city then?

I wouldnt say, I want to say in this city!

Kenilworth castle carpark is a good one!

Coventry Craig:)

Having lived in Coventry for 60 years i cannot honestly think of anywhere i would want to wild camp. We stayed in the car park at Coombe Abbey on 1 occassion but not certain i would do it again. Plenty of industrial estates and supermarkets to park up at but not a lot more places

Enjoyed our first few days again near Whitly Abbey, can't work out which river it is, probably the Sherbourne. By the spot where they filmed the tunnel shots from the original Italian Job, could not find exact spot to much new building. Then a final night in a lay-by near Daventry but will be returning next week so still open foir advice. There was a nice spot in the woods opposite the memorial park I remember from years ago but could not find it this time.

The problem with Coventry is the anti 'gypsy' devices of trenches and height barriers as with so many Cities. This will put an end to wild camping at this rate, stealth camping the only option. Perhaps I may have to consider a type to raise and lower the roof, we could get in the car parks then!

The WORST thing was the POTHOLES on the roads, to rough for the average vehicle, perhaps there is a need to return in a rugged four by four!

Thanks for the replys!

happy about the place but not a lot of free camping places.
