Ok guy’s an gal's

Myself and my 13 year old will be heading to France for 2 weeks wilding in April and got a few questions if anyone could be helpful and answer.

My daughter thru one at me last night, "Dad how can we do the Ironing while away?" I know i can go into a campsite for the washing but I could not answer about the Ironing.

Also does anyone know if they have laundry mats in France?

If I need to go onsite what adapters will I need?

What is a good length for my water hose?

Is there a lot of swimming pools (she loves swimming)?

Will be taken in at least 2 theme parks got sky free tickets for Disneyland and was thinking about Astrix?

What is the weather likely to be in the first 2 weeks of April? (Farthest will be Brittany I think)

If you would like to add to this feel free :) we can't do a lot of walking due to my wee ones dissabilites, but will be doing a bit cycling if its warm enough.

Cheers

I have sorted out most of the stuff I need (I hope)
All the Aires book from vicarious books, Tom tom updated, Phrase book on kindle.
High viz vests x2, warning triangle x2, beam deflectors, torch, first aid kit, Wi-Fi extender
40gig of music ;) Disneyland tickets, all M/H paperwork, Passports, driving licence and money

i carry a 4 metre water pipe with a 3/4 threaded end,
as many pools as in england,in the south more outdoor pools[frogs are amphibians after all]
don't do ironing,you're on holiday
there are laundries, drop off clothes, pick up next day
weather not a lot different to here,in other words, could do anything

I pretty much agree, the besty advice I can give is have a loose agenda and go with the flow

I agree with the above, my first outing in my van was the first 2 weeks of April in Brittany, we got sun burn during the day but it was cold during the evening/night.

Why is a 13yr old worrying about the ironing? For two weeks I dont think you will worry much about laundry.

Hi I'm sure you'll get on fine. In 4 mths last year we only used aires I'd say perhaps a meter more hose may save turning the van a large watering can so if on a good spot you can top van up to save moving. Hook up lead with 16amp blue plugs I carry two so joined they make 35 mtrs and a doubler for it as you may need to share a connection only once needed a adapter to old French 2 pin. A lot of hyper markets have Laundromats so washing is easy, Ironing didn't happen. Last year in Brittany weather was brillant April to end of May Best of Luck

Mrs D packs a travel Iron as she likes to keep neat. I dont see the point to be honest but women like to look tidy. She occasionally will iron in the van on the table in the front Dinette with a towel as an iron mat. On occasion we have a couple of times done a big wash and used a campsites facilities to iron. Some have irons some dont. You will need a two pin travel adaptor which you will easily get on the high street or online if your taking your own iron. One site in france let us use their ironing board and iron for nothing (we werent staying there) and I think we filled up with water!

Even Mrs D however could go at least two weeks without a laundrette stop!

Hose pipes. I carry two. One 25 metre on a roll and one blue plastic 5 metre food grade hose. The 5 metre one is much easier to use as it doesnt need rolling in or out. 9 times out of 10 you can get right to the tap so I never hardly need the long one.

Weather down to brittany in April will be similar to the UK. Could be great, could be dreadful. You need to get south of the Loire valley to see any significant difference.

Don't bother with ironing!

Or if it really does freak you out not being able to do it, just use a mini electric iron when plugged in to 240V on a campsite, or failing that what about one of those flat irons they used to heat up on the stove? Be resourceful when camping - you may have to go back to old technology as well.

Washing tip: bucket with sealable lid such as what you get tile grout in: add water (cold is fine), French washing powder (which works in cold water), and your laundry. Seal the lid on. Drive to the next campsite. Washing emerges clean after being shaken about along the way. Rinse and peg it out on your makeshift washing line.

great advice guys ;)) Ironing is not for me almost 14 year old girl = must look best at all times lol also goes thru about 4 outfits per day. the 2 weeks wont be so bad but te 7 weeks in june might be a bit harder..

4 outfits a day...she needs a hotel with laundry service :lol-053:

Better get her used to 4 outfits a week if she wants to go camping!

I have a 2000 watt Inverter in my van so no problem with ironing or hair dryer, try telling her indoors she can't blow dry her hair, LOL.:)
