Cost of Sat Nav maps!

Ive just looked into buying full European maps for my Tom Tom Go 520T and boy what a shock. First off Tom Tom cleverly split Europe into Western, Central and Eastern Europe. As luck would have it im heading soon through at least two of these areas. At the moment in the Tom Tom sale each one retails at £45  so £90 for maps before i even set off:(

Anyone else think this is a rip or just me?

Its time for paper maps again but i just cant rely on herself to read em right :D:D

When you consider all the work that must go into producing these maps, then No I don't think it's a rip off, expensive yes but not a rip off, you get what you pay for.

When I was in the market for a Satnav some time back, I found that Garmin is a lot cheaper with European maps.

They are included with several models, and when you upgrade maps you get (or at least used to) get the whole of Europe even if your satnav only came with UK.

True, there is a lot of info goes into them, since ive posted its got a bit better there is a sale on at Tom Tom themselves and with some jiggery pokery i can get 90% of the maps i need for £50. The other 10% its back to paper!

some light at the tunnel end then:)
