I am selling a coronet Major complete and in good order with the following:-
it is 33" between centres with a swivel head.
rise/fall/tilt Saw table with riving knife, guard, fence and a crosscut fence/protractor.
4 1/2" planer
Morticer
long hole boring attachment
Spindle molding block
Comb jointer
2 x faceplates, one set up as a sanding disc
Screw chuck
drive dog
fixed tailstock center
rotating tailstock center
2 x tool rests one long and one short.
there is also a pin chuck and a tailstock chuck (but no key)
The bed is a solid 3" dia steel bar the whole machine was solidly built, bearings excellent.
Machines of this quality are no longer built today. although I have dismantled the machine it would not take long to assemble if you want to come and see it in action. There are NO chisels with it as I only have a few and need them for my other (longer Coronet) only reason for sale is that I needed a much longer lathe and no have one 6ft between centres.
so there you have it all in good working order £300 not a bad price for a complete workshop.

just to endorse this machine, ihad one of these when i was younger but had to sell it when we went travelling, and i still can't have anything that heavy duty, but what a lovely bit of kit and you're right, the kind of quality you don't see now.i still think of my coronet sometimes and remember the stuff i made on it,i reckon at that price its a steal and could turn a keen diy-er into a skilled man as it did for me

totally agree, I wish I had space for it...........cracking kit.....

woodturning lathe

hi , have you still got the coronet wood lathe , and are you sure its a major as majors were not post office red but maroon ?

colin

Hi Colin, yes still got it. The previous owner repainted it so cannot vouch for the original colour, never thought to look. There is a plate on it that says "The Major" I was going by that and the bed length. You are welcome to come and have a look for yourself.
Edit .....................You are quite right had a look today and it is maroon underneath.

Lathe now sold

Now sold to the second person who actually came to see it. ( the first saw it dismantled and was not ready to commit anyway).
Thanks everyone.

I do have another, but not for sale . It was built as a one off by Coronet to produce Standard lamps the bed is over 6ft between centres, it not only has the saw and planer but also morticer, linisher, sander and a good assortment of chucks/faceplates. There are three tool rests it is huge, hee hee I suppose some one will get it for a song when I'm dead and gone.
