Compass Avantgarde 120 - Solar panel Fitment

Just wondered if any one knows if the roof of my Compass Avantgarde 120 is storng enough to have a solar panel fitted to it. I seem to recall the book stating that it won't support a person. Don't know what or how its construcuted, any ideas/advice?

Hi Hawkmoon,

I used to have the same van with the Elddis Autoquest 120 badge. Yes it will support a solar panel. If yours is like the 90 watt panel I got recently, it weighs very little. A lot of vans are not built to take the weight of a person but you can stand on them if there is a structural bit underneath. It is only the large unsupported areas which are dodgy.

If you are fitting it yourself, there have been threads on here which may be helpful. Just do a search.

Yes I think a 90W panel would be all I could fit due to space - I'll do a few searches for diy fitment.
