coastal parking sites

In February/March we are taking a year or so off and going touring round Britain in our Hobby. We are going to follow the coastal roads - avoiding motorways and main roads. Would be grateful for any ideal wild camping sites anywhere on the coast of Britain. Our van is 26 feet long so ones with plenty of room/turning space please!

East coast

we had a few days in Mablethorpe this summer and we found a fabulous carpark on the coast hidden away from view. You enter it opposite the small cinema along the coastal road, it was very dark, but an uninterupted view! This is a huge carpark with grass surround and steps down to the beach theres a small cafe up there for your bacon butties in the morning! Free parking after 6.

However, there is a height barrier, wasnt a problem for us, you didnt mention any height restrictions.

All I can say is forget Sussex, just had a week going from Portsmouth to Dover, EVERY carpark apart from one at East Wittering had either "No overnight camping/parking" signs or height barriers, even the little pay & display at Itchenor now has an extra sign saying "Motorhomes if you stay and sleep you WILL be fined £50!

Now tell me if you buy a ticket, what's the difference between and empty m/h parked overnight or one with an adult asleep inside???

I can recommend St. Margaret's by Dover, Cooden by Bexhill and Aldeburgh.

Have a nice trip.

I wondered how the hell a German couple knew of it, we woke up last year with a young couple 'nextdoor'. It's not the sort of place you 'trip over' is it?
