Go for a recognised brand with a decent warranty. I have a Honeywell SF450EN here in front of me that I must get round to fitting. It's self-contained with a 6 year life.

to save space I bought a combined smoke/co detector from sainsbury's paid 20 quid now think they are £25.00, but work well, left the van sld open with the cd playing on the drive, whilst next to the van i was playing with the car-engine running fumes from the cars exhaust entered the van and off she went, was well loud.

I'm dead tight so bargain me thought:D

Got a combined detector from costco for under £20. It shouts 'FIRE FIRE' when the toast is ready.

Thanks all i have now bought a Honeywell £20 form halfords, i suppose i could have got it cheaper but i go away on friday and wanted one before i stayed in the van,
