Morning all, does anyone know if it is ok (weight wise) to climb onto a coach built van roof, it’s a rollerteam , I believe it is fibreglass or some sort of plastic.
I need to re seal a roof light and can’t reach of a ladder.
Cheers

Yes, assuming that your weight is reasonable. I weigh 80Kg and it's fine.

The greatest risk as mentioned above is slipping on a wet surface.

I have a tripod Henchman ladder which means that, although my van will take my weight on the roof, I can reach all parts of the roof without actually getting on to it. I feel much safer doing it this way. I would thoroughly recommend a tripod ladder which can be used for all sorts of things as well as working on the van roof, and much safer too.

I spent some time on the roof of Gordons Hymer when fitting a pair of solar panels and it seemed very solid. I did tend to be kneeling all the time or even lying down so that spread the weight however and avoided standing up whenever possible (I would echo Canalmans comment... last thing you want to do is fall off a roof!).

I used my builders thresals with planks, then a ladder to get up on it, roof of my van is grp on steel sections and you could dance on it, not advisable as folk will call the nut house brigade, do have someone with you when on it, better safe than sorry.

Roller Team T Line 740.....biggest problem is extremely slippy when wet and not much better when dry, otherwise no issues

We bought a lightweight alloy 6x2 ft tower. It was around £250 and I can do everything from that. But as was said earlier, it can easily be done from inside, I used a small pair of steps and cleaned the roof through a opening.

Hey Gypo,
Do as much as you can by reaching from the sides,
Pad a short board to spread your weight,

But seriously-
Do it in company with someone else, Not by yourself up a out the way or secluded park up 😊

Henchman +1. Invaluable piece of kit for safe accessibility.

There is one major flaw with them :( too big to carry in the motorhome to meets so you can properly wash other peoples vans :D
But the Henchman Ladder weighs only 10kg - 'Never mind the height, feel the lack of weight' to misquote a well known saying ... :ROFLMAO:
