I realise this is like asking how long is a piece of string but....
Plan A was to take the Ferry from Ardrossan to Brodick , tour Arran, then Lochranza to Claonaig then back via the roads going north.
No space on the Ferry.
Plan B.
Ferry to Hunters Quay drive to Portavadie and ferry to Tarbert.
To Campbeltown and drive back via the roads.
Plan B2 as Plan B but use the Ferry to Lochranza tour Arran then return from Lochranza.
I expect some queues but would hope we would only "miss 1 crossing"
.
Good guesses welcome ?

You might find this worth a read.
I was in Lochranza only last week and there were no queues when we were there.

We took the claonaig to lochranza ferry on the 6th july. Its straight forward really, just arrive, wait in the cue and once the ferry drops its ramp you are waved forward to board so going the opposite way will be the same. If the ferry is full, you just wait until it comes back and catch the next trip. Payment is taken on board by crew. The ferry between Brodick and Ardrossan is very busy with lots of commercial traffic so you should book your ferry ride as soon as you possibly can in advance. We drove straight from Lochranza to Brodick to book our ferry off Arran on the 8th, and then went onto our campsite for a couple of days R&R. Make sure you make a note of the ferry boarding/leaving times as they don't put this on the ticket.

Just checked and ferry from Brodick to Lochranza is available on Wednesday 28 July.
We can simply reverse the trip.
Drive to Campbeltown via A82 A83, then to Claonaig.
Ferry to Lochranza.
Tour Arran then Brodick to Ardrossan

Just across from the ferry terminal at Lochranza is a fantastic sandwich shop, we always get a sandwich from there before our crossing to Claonaig

You will never wait long for the Lochranza ferry at either end. I must have watched it load and unload Hundreds of times. We often used to sit on the other side of the loch and guess how many vehicles would Come off.
