Cigarette lighter USB charger

Yeah I’ve got one,
I run my Sat Nav, Reversing Cam, Dash Cam & TWO phone charging leads from it With no trouble.

I left mine dangling and it took 2 hours for the cable sheath to become separated a few milli from the connector, works well though with a bit of tape stuck on :)

Yeah it’s often the angle of the Dangle that can land you in the - ! In one way or another, Shame it wasn’t protected Before use...

I would agree with that.
For stuff like Sat Navs which are semi-permanent installs, I always wire in hidden 12V accessory sockets to avoid a big lump of a 12V plug sticking out (especially on Garmins where the plugs house receiving electronics as well), and replace the standard dash Cigar Lighter socket with a twin USB Socket.
I actually used a combo Twin USB and Voltmeter Combo in my Safari Camperbus like in Trevs photo as handy to be able to glance and see what the Starter Battery is up to

pretty pathetic that even new vans only come with one USB connection in hab area....we always have 3 on the go somewhere and I have always retrofitted some ebay ones.

Again a flimsy unit working of the cigy socket.

Yes I agree,I have always had problems with anything plugged into a cigarette socket, the design seems a bit wrong when you have a spring pushing back against the connection, they tend to work loose, for that reason with the leisure battery being about a meter away I hard wired with a 10amp fuse and switch.

Can you see the voltage display with two USB leads plugged in?
Probably :)

Well you can actually, but obviously the cable could flop in front but just a matter of flicking it out the way. (I've never needed to).
Having the extra function is just handy when you are driving or sat up front. recommended.
you can even get USB and Voltmeter combos in a CBE fitting ;)

I don't quite get why so many people use these plug-in flying lead USB multi-ways as permanent setups? apart from not being that reliable, they just look so messy :( (maybe just me, but I hate big 12V plugs and leads hanging down constantly)

don't have a VW T5 do you? they have got to be the worst ever sockets (and probably shared with VWs of the similar age). If you get 30 seconds continuous connection with one of those you are doing well.
