Hi,

I am off to the Races tomorrow in Chester, but the Little Roodee will be closed for the "Fun" fair.

I email the Council and asked them if they have any other overnight car parks for a Motorhome and got this rely:

Thank you for your query. Due to the Little Roodee car park being closed for the fair and races, you can use either Brook Street, or Garden Lane car park both car parks do not have a height restrictions are open 24 hours and are long stay car parks. There are no large bays in either of the car parks, so if you park in two bays you will need to obtain two pay and display tickets.

Brook Street is free for arrivals after 3pm – charges for over 3 hours £4.00
Garden Lane – Over 6 hours £4.90. Arrivals after 6pm £1.50

Daily charges apply from 7am, you can obtain pay and display tickets for the following day, and display side by side on dashboard.

The only other option we can offer, is to park at Wrexham Road Park and Ride, which has a height barrier restriction. However if you wish to use Wrexham Park and Ride if you can advise us before an approximate time of arrival, we can arrange for the attendant or an officer to be available to remove the height barrier.

I am quite happy paying a few quid to park overnight in city centers, especially as I will be having a drink.

Just posted it to show that some city's do welcome motorhomes

Cheers

That's good news I love Chester, we will have to give it a go.
I don't mind paying that sort of money.

The fair has always been on the Little Roodee for as long as I can remember, the Chester races used to be only 3 days in May at the same time (there was no other racing any other time of the year). The opening Sat of the fair also used to be the same day as the FA cup final so all the mums & kids would be sent off to the fair while the men used to huddle round the TV (or sometimes radio) watching a grainy picture which was hardly worth watching, and they say times are bad now :eek:fftopic:.

To be fair to Chester - they have always allowed / encouraged Motorhomes to park at the little Roodee.

I just wasn't expecting such a positive response, with the Roodee being shut as a Car Park

And yes it's a very lively place well worth a Visit
