Cheeky or What?

Couple of months ago, a Hymer owner seeing my MH parked outside my house decided that it must be a safe place to park and parked next to mine.
(It was late at night, 11:30pm).
Next morning he slept late but when I saw him moving around making brekkies, I introduced myself and asked if he was ok for water etc.
Well, after a polite conversation he eventually moved on, on his travels.
Couple of weeks ago, he drove by again whilst I was out at my van, but he didn't stop to say hello.
Last night he turned up again quite late and parked up for the night.
Taking my dog for her morning walk this morning I saw he had already made himself scarce by 07:15am.
Fair enough, but he drove away with his waste water drain open and left a trail of water along the street.
There were 4 street drains within 50 yards of where he was parked so he could have used any of those.
Maybe I'm being pedantic (is that the right word?) but I think he has a cheek doing what he did.

Cheeky

Yes, I would have been concerned about my neighbours' feelings. I ocassionally park mine on the drive, it's usually in storage, mindful of it being a very large white vehicle, another Hymer might have caused a stir. Draining in that manner is a little inconsiderate. Some people don't seem to realise how their actions can upset other people no matter how small or they just don't care. It would have been nice if he'd had the decency to ask if you minded rather than just do it but then to repeat it ......

he might of thought you became friends as you spoke and so on and thought it would be ok to do it again
a friendly chat and explain the neighbours might complain

but yes i agree he could of asked if it was ok
should solve the problem

No New Rover,

You are not being pedantic, and yes it is a cheek.

I think freecampers can come in for some unfare critisism, hence barriers and signs saying no camping/overnight sleeping. This idiot empties his grey tank in a residential area and doesn't even have the courtesy to use the drains provided, beggars belief!

Many laymen could think he was emptying his toilet. I was once asked this by someone who thought all waste water (Grey & Black) went into the same tank.

Let's hope he doesn't return.

Regards Captain

Bit naughty really,I like to try and get on with as many people as possible as I go through life...

What are you going to do when he comes back?

Craig

Do you think he emptied the tank like that intentionally? I`d have a word next time he turns up. Let your neighbours know you were not happy with his actions as well, after you had trusted him and treated him so well in the first place.

That was very thoughless and inconsidered behaviour, I agree. Maybe he was in a rush to get away. Still, no excuse. Even a novice camper owner like me wouldn`t do such a thing. Common sense somewhat eludes certain people. Shame, as they give others a bad name.

Aren't the street gutter drains just for storm water.

In an ideal world yes;) A bit of grey water is negligible on the scale of everyday pollutants washed down driveway/ street drains:eek: No one gives a toss about people washing their cars, caravans, M/H's with the detergent (and acid from wheel cleaners) running down the street drains.

Although it is disgusting behavior to leave a mess outside someone else's patch.

Not giving a toss?

Considered people do give a toss! I want to include myself in those, thanks. And shame on the rest!

Just back from a couple of days away.
The next time he comes back, if he does that is, I will point out to him that there are drains in the street if he REALLY has to empty his tank but otherwise he should take his waste home with him or call in to many of the sites that allow you to use the MH service points for a small charge on his way home to Aberdeen.

It is important to use environmentally friendly cleaning products in your motorhome, so that your grey tank does not contain any harmfull chemicals. Ecover washing up liquid or something similar. These products do not damage the water courses that road drains feed.
In France I have seen German Motorhomers empty the toilet tank into a storm drain, I was all ready to give him a mouth full when i saw a 6'4 tattoed, 27 stone, shaven headed, snarling, rottwieller lookalike, asking her husband to hurry along.:D
