Just returned from France this evening via the Tunnel.

After passing through the French border control point I noted that the date on the stamp imprinted in my passport was incorrect.

Yesterday was the 10th but the stamp was dated the 11th.

I realise it's only one day out but as far as France is concerned I stayed one day longer in the Schengen zone than I realised.

This could catch you out in the future if, like me, you try to maximise your 90 day allowance ...

Is it possible, for legal reasons (?) , after a certain time they date stamp the following day ?

An unhelpful consequence and wrong if they roll the date over after say 5pm.
No logical reason (logic and legal do not always work in partnership)...but as they might say "We are French".
Could cost 2 days especially if you travel late or over midnight both ways.
90 days is also strange.
Many organisations regard 3 months as 91 or even 92 days.

So today's joke

"No no no no no, oh yes"

The only problem we had when coming back was Passport Control who could not find the " out " stamp when i handed in both passports at Calais o_O

The guy at Dover who was more interested in watching a bloody football match on his phone had stamped them a couple of pages in at the back of our passports

We made many day visits to Gibraltar from Spain when in the area, and each visit had 2 date records. So we had a large number of date stamps in our passports, all in random positions and in no particular sequence it would seem.

This confused the French passport control later in the year who could not work out which date was the date when we entered France. I suspect they were getting rather excited at the prospect of collected a big fine, confiscating our motorhome, and locking us up, until we pointed to the entry date they needed to be looking at!

So yes be prepared and check dates and also the location where they are stamped in the passport.

I would reckon if you could prove when you returned to the U.K. you would be fine. There are various ways to do so. Reading these posts on here really is depressing stuff, when you consider what was before.

Failed to get ours stamped (French border force sound asleep) on our return end of June. We then left again start of Sept expecting hassle but apart from taking a long time studying passport, let us through. (y)

ps. We did make sure we had plenty of receipts etc to show we crossed.

Sorry but if the EU “relaxed “ it’s 90 day rule for us alone that would be justifiably argued as bias by every other non EU member. Most countries apply the 90 day rule it’s the standard used by most others. There are only two ways we can get back to unfettered access to the EU. I won’t mention them on here, but I am sure you know what they are.

They won't be relaxing it for "us" though. They will be relaxing it for a member state.
Will probably take a lot more lobbying than Spain can do on it's own.

Mark I hope they do relax the rule, but I just cannot see it happening.

I'm sure it's just the "it would be nice if they relaxed the rule" we agree on.

We still disagree on loads of other things. :p :ROFLMAO:

Don't you worry about that mate. :)
