Came across this deal on EBuyer tonight.

Foehn & Hirsch GPS35LS Sat NAV 3.5" UK &amp.. | Ebuyer.com

F&H Sat Nav with built in FM transmitter (handy if like me youre a bit hard of hearing) £39.99 (£15 OFF) Good reviews too.

These sat navs can be adapted to run TomTom, IGO & Mio Maps..if you prefer

Just thought i'd share it with fellow wildcampers...would make a handy back up sat nav at this price

Thanks for this... do you know how to install and get tomtom running of one these units?

I dont know if i'm allowed to post direct links to other sites on this forum but if you google navi total that'll point you in the right direction...everything you need is there including maps, poi's, speedcams, etc..and of course tutorials to guide you through the process..

If you get stuck let me know and I'll try to help...I struggled at first (as im a bit thick) but ive now got all my family and friends using them

Thanks mate... I have found the mentioned site... is it the F&H GPS35LS unit you have too?

I have the old navi which was about the same and have been using it for about 3 years. No problem whatsoever and infact seems more stable than my friends 'official' tomtom go device.

I had the old navigo/F&H v3 too.. but it has a cracked screen now.. hence the need for a new one.. just trying to make sure i can load tomtom on it before purchasing it thats all.
Thanks.

Yes its easy to download the maps. Just the same as D/L anything else really.

If you read the tutorials you will see you need to D/L the correct maps for your specific sat nav and software version. Its mainly to do with which software your sat nav runs on e.g. winCE 6, winCE 5, etc, as you probably know the maps, POI's, Speedcams, music, ebooks, etc are saved on the SD card so you only have to run a key gen to make them work on your sat nav...once you read through it a couple of times it'll click how it works...after that its only a matter of D/L the latest speedcams, etc and droping them into a folder in the SD card...just like dropping files into folders on your computer.

You will probably need to buy a bigger SD card than the one that comes with your sat nav...I recommend that you take out and keep your origional SD card safe and if you mess up the upgrade you can just pop the origional back in and use as normal...A 2GB SD card should be big enough for UK, Eire and Western Europe maps but if you want to add a lot of music or ebooks get a 4GB or bigger SD Card...

Oh I see your problem. I'm not 100% sure if that model can be altered...I'll have a look about some other forums I know and ask the question...the sat navs Ive had in the past had internal memory to run the software and SD cards for maps, etc..

I'll post the question and get back to you when I get an answer...I'm not a sat nav expert, I just follow the geeks instructions... If i can do it - anyone can

Just a quick few words of advice.....

MAKE SURE YOU BACK UP ALL YOUR FILES FROM YOUR DEVICE TO YOUR PC BEFORE DOING ANYTHING

If you don't believe me how important this is, take a look at how many 'bricked' (ie completely wrecked) tomtom and other devices end up for sale on fleabay.

Re- navitotal? watch out for spyware and worse being downloaded on to your computer without your knowledge.

Finally, don't do it unless you are sure of what you are doing.
