So our winter trip algarve/andalusia starts a week today.
Was going to attach power to charge up batteries but van not registering power connected, multimeter shows cable is live.
Can I charge batteries via a conventional charger in situ or will it bugger ELB.
We dont need EHU when away will sort if when back

You can clip a conventional charger to your batteries and charge them that be way, it won't affect anything in a bad way at all.
You don't say if you're using a conventional meter or a non contact type but A NCV meter will still show power if the neutral isn't continuous 👍.
Do the 13A sockets in the van work? If not the problem could be a loss of neutral in your EHU lead, neutral wire come astray inside plug/socket at either end?

One thing to be careful of, is to ensure the charger is turned off whilst you connect and disconnect the leads to the battery.
This avoids a surge voltage (and potential sparks) by applying a live charger to a battery, and all the systems connected to that battery.

Very jealous of you going to Andalucia - The Alpujarras are now our favourite bit of Spain, fantastic walking there...
It was also 18C when we were in Seville a few days ago, getting sunburnt.....

How is the charger going to work if you are not on EHU, am i missing something here. 😂
Dont you have solar, if not about time you sorted that out.(y)

Conventional meter shows 250 at trip meter
Control board light usually lights up when mains connected and ammeter would show charging batteries if connected, neither is happening
Got solar on roof charging leisure batts probably only been on ehu six times in ten years ( when it was free)
Alpujarras are great did a short visit some years ago will return again

Just remembered .. a couple of months back a member had exactly the same issue.

Although the switches didn't look tripped they were !
He pressed the test button and then reset the breakers and it solved the problem.

Worth a try.
