Certified locations

Great find Leo, It shows what can be achieved when one persists;), lets hope this is another step towards bringing the UK into line with europe when it comes to providing motorhome stopovers:)

UK Aires

I posted the info in the UK Aires thread as well Belgian.

It is not a difficult process, I have done it for 2 organisation myself.

Yes John,
you beat me. The credit is yours ;)
Nevertheless it's a way to get the wheels rolling in the UK.
Come on, guys, jump on the waggon or give it a push

Jim on MHFun said: "we can build a network of these CFLs for use by our members" so it sounds like they will not be open to all, unlike the MCC ones. Is anyone a member over there and could ask the question?

Since becoming a member is simply a matter of registering a username and signing in, does it really matter? Yes, I am a member - it took 30 seconds and cost nothing.

i used to use the cls many many moons ago

how much do they charge now for bare fields with a disposal point?

Cl & cs

We are using a CL this weekend in North Yorkshire it has EHU and WC and the charge is £8 per night.
One of our favourite sites is on a Chicken Farm in N Yorks that one has water and emptying point which is the basic facilities required and that charges £3 per night.

How longs a piece of string :)
We us them all the time and pay between £5 (very rare now) and £15. Its not always about facilities either unfortunatley. Some of the more pricy locations can have the worst facilities. If you use the C&CC website you can search by loaction and see the prices before you book, some of the nicest places we have stayed are CL's :)

This link is for the C&CC search tool

Natural England in their literature and in the 1960 Act it says para 5 sites (CLs) are primarily for the members of the Club/group. Para 4 sites (28 day Holiday sites) are run by the club but non members can attend. Para 6 (Rallies) are strictly for members only.

Having looked at some Aires, the CL network is about the same at those aires that charge.

At a CL you are allowed to put out chairs and an awning canopy. According to the book this is classed as camping and is not allowed on aires.

Yes, but it is up to the Club to determine whether para 5 sites are to be restricted to members only.

Of course it's not a problem to join up to MHFun to become a 'club member', but it would be nice if they made the sites available to all, as aires in France are, and as the Motor Caravanners Club and Nightstop Scheme ones are.

Hi all.

A good find.:)

As it's in fashion to have a coalition (please don't set fire to my house ) I'm with John H. Why not surport this attempt by joining as it's free. After all they've gone along way down the road already.

As the saying goes "united we stand" & all that :D

Thanks.
