Hello all, I'm new to this group and very much so a beginner. This is my first van and I want to insulate and ply line the back. Befor I do the ceiling I was going to get some spotlights from b&q and change the bulbs to a lower wattage. Can I just wire these up to the existing rear light and put a light switch like out of a home on the wall. Much help is needed thanks
Paul.

Self Build ?

Paul I assume you mean normal household spotlights these are no good, for a start you need plenty of air space to allow the heat generated by the lights to escape if the heat cannot escape it will cause the lights to overheat, damage the surrounding fabric of the roof and damage the wire at worst a fire. Much better to look at a surface mounted light or an LED light would be better these can be on for several hours and still be cool th the touch. try looking at one of the self build forums and contact them for advice.
