Hi Just wanted to ask if anyone who is members of the CC&C is attending or planning to attend the national rally which is being held in Scotland for the 1st time at Eglinton Country Park near Irvine in Ayrshire.
It is promising to be a busy meet with around 150 units booked so far. Booking has been extended to 7th May to accomadate interest.

I will be stewarding an on the gate so say hello if you do come...nice to put some names to faces.

I know it is not stricly wild camping but a large meet is a meet..there will be onsite enterainment with a full Scottish Flavour.

tell me champstar...

......is this CC&C ....the Camping and Caravanning Club? (C&CC) because I'm having trouble finding out about it, can you post up a proper link to the details please?

Cheers
Ian and Margaret

nb. excuse us as we are new members of this site (and the C&CC as well)

Hi scotsy,
details of all meets with the SAMCS are in out & about, with contact name and number for booking. Bill Lees is the chap, met him last year, very welcoming section. I will be joing up with them again later in the year for a few days in between wilding.
Sorry haven't got a link for you, hope champstar can help you with that.

Happy Camping:)
Bill and Angie.

I joined the club last year and have noticed that very few articles in the magazine relate to motor homes, so I will not be renewing my membership.

Pioneer, i know i'm probably a bit thick but my question was answered with another acronym...SAMCS:confused:

what the heck does that stand for?

I will repeat my question:- should CC&C really be C&CC ?(camping and caravanning club)

thanks for helping though:)

Hi Scotsy

SAMCS is short for "Scottish Area Motor Caravan Section" in "Out and About" which is part of the club mag of the Camping and Caravanning Club I recon that CC&C was a slip of the finger and should have been C&CC

Happy touring to all in 2009

Hi Sorry about that yes it should be the C&CC ie the camping and caravanning club. The motorhome section does have a website www.waggonerstalk.co.uk
There you will find details of all the meets and rallies.
The only stipulation is that you must be a member of the club...not nescessarily the section as all units are welcome.
I just wondered if any one was coming to the rally?

The rally has been advertised in the section mag which comes out 4 times a year and is completely different to the offical club mag.
There has been a problem with the offical club mag and the out and about section where it has been inserted as a temporary holiday site (THS) instead of the meets section.
If you go to the section website and click on the link for the 47th National Rally and AGM.

Bill Lees is still the scottish area chairman and we are supposed to have over 300 members of the section (ie pay their £5 extra) but onlyabout 30 turned up for the AGM of the scottish section last week.

Any more questions just ask

Was a member of this section when i first had a M/H, attended one meet but at 54 at the time felt a bit of a lad in gods waiting room. However the people were nice but it was not my thing......... especially when you compare it to our Meets.

Hi scotsy,
sorry mate, the C&CC (camping and caravanning club) is correct and the Scottish area motor caravan section, SAMCS.
The THS stands for Temporary Holiday Site and these are listed in the out and about magazine, but they are also in the May edition of the C&CC magazine, with particular reference to the Irvine meet on page100.
Hope this helps, and you will like us all get to used to the abbreviations in time. Good luck.

Happy Camping:)

Thanks everyone for clearing a few things up for me/us

i had already had a look on the C&CC site (members area) and found Nothing!!!

With this new info i'll have another look for it as i quite fancy it:D

Hi Rick,
know what you mean, but I use the meets to replenish water stocks etc, when travelling around. Meet the people, then go off and do my own thing.
As members you are entitled to stay over for a night, or as long as the meet takes place.
Our meets are different? like you say, and I must say I prefer them, but the THS meets are very useful sometimes. (Like the one at Glenfiddich!!!) I hear you say, now we are talking, that's my first stop this year.:D

My comments were regarding the Motorhome section, not the THS,s, these seem a different kettle of fish all together and we intend to use them this year when we tour Wales in August.
The rally I attended was just a W/E meet at a village hall and even though i won the bingo I did feel a little out of my depth....... not a drop of Scotch to be seen:confused::mad:
