Yes I have used these and also THS not bad. There is a tap and an elsan hole unless you are on a posh one
People can be friendly

We are using C&CC temp holiday sites on our Grand Southern Tour. Except for when we stay at yours and AJ`s of course.

I will be checking out wilding sites and the THS`s are a good fall back if not successful.

If nothing else planned we use our local DA (notts) weekend meets. Sometimes they have something going on in the evening and sometimes they don't. We are going to one in Osmaston, near Ashbourne. £9 for two nights can't be bad.:)

I'm posting a connected question to this elsewhere but,

do they have restrictions on the type of vehicle you can camp in? I tented with C&C Club as a youth but seem to recall they're not keen on nonconventional campers - any knowledge of this please?

regards, phil

I just go to the C&CC and being as camping is in their name you would think they would allow you to camp at these meets. Saying that I have not yet seen any one camping, I've seen trailer tents but no tents but this could be down to lack of facilities, not many tent owners having their own loo etc.

The C&CC DA's and special interest sections will welcome any type of unit to a meet or THS as long as they can accomodate them. If the meet has nothing other than a water tap and elsan then tents are not encouraged unless they have their own toilet.
We at the Scottish Area Motorcaravan Section welcome anyone to one of our meets!!!

CC& C Rally sites

We spent 2 nights last weekend with the Motorhome Section at Paull near Hull.
It was a really good weekend and not just because of the weather.
The site would be a good meet for a wildcamping rally.
Plenty of walks and a great view of the Humber we watched the ferries and cargo boats passing and it was a good spot for birdwatchers.
Don,t know about charges etc but it was at Fort Paull which is a Museum of war relics etc.
Think their website was Fort Paull : Home

We use them a lot , just need to check that access is ok if you have a big van, and that ground conditions ok as usually not hardstanding.,

Thats true we had a moment on Sunday when we came to leave, a quick spin of the wheels but we were ok :)

Having said that there were about 10 big 4X4's on site so I recon we would have been ok :)

Looking for some wheel mats now, does anyone have any recomendations or Cheap alternatives :D

I do know that Vancomfort (Vancomfort) are bringing out new mats called "Monster Mats" at the Peterboro' show. I am told they will retail for about £16/pair. Won't be on their website till after the show.

Thats a good price, thanks

Bread baskets I believe are excellent - if you can aquire any. Saw off upright bits and then saw in half. Never tried them but understand they are the bees knees and free.

We have the mats, and as yet not needed to use them - just the fiaamma ones. I have spoken to others and been told not too effective, but as haven't used them can't justify as correct or not.

I have had my eyes peeled for these bread baskets but as yet haven't been brave enough to help meself.

I had bread trays which I dutifully cut each one in half. I carried these in the passenger side awaiting the use of them.
The time came when i went to watch our George racing one weekend. It was like Glasstonbury but without the music. I got out my trays and put them nearly under my wheels. But to no avail. They went into the skip because I was just sliding on them.
But that was me.
We ended being towed off by a tractor.
This was my second experience of being towed in just a few months.
I just tow a tractor now :eek::eek:
No that is why I always look out for tractors :D:D:D

Thanks Polly
I have some Kampa grip mats on order, I did not realise they were so cheap. £10 a pair.

I've been told by an old hand the best thing to do everytime you park on grass is to park on them when you set up camp then when you come to leave just accelerate straight off them and don't stop until you get to a hard surface and then go back, I can see me having to buy a few sets :D :D
