Hi All,

I have for sale the following catalictic gas heater,

ALKE make, AKS-Gas badge'd, MidiCat, butain or propane catalictic 1900watt, gas heater.

Size (in old money) 15.5 inches x 13 inches and a couple of inches deep.

Can be hung on an appropriate surface, or free standing (with suitable stand/leg, not supplied) and connected to gas supply with appropriate rubber type hose or fitted using appropriate copper piping/fittings.

Catalictic heaters have a sort of 'glass matting' that glow's when the gas is lit rather than flames and provide radiant as well as convected heat with minimal fumes.

Purchased as lightly used by me for a project that didn't go ahead and now surplus to requirements.

£50 collected, p&p @ cost.

Cheers

Took you long enough to reply

Carbon monoxide yourself not other members :

Don't you think that's for"other members" to decide for themselves?
It rather depends on where it's to be used.
I'm sure they wouldn't be allowed to be sold if they were so dangerous.

Unless I am very much mistaken, any user of a hydrocarbon such as propane butane diesel etc etc MUST have an exhaust outside the habitation space to atmosphere.

Also, unless I am very much mistaken, this item doesn't seem to have any exhaust other than to cabin

So, IMHO it is not suitable for use in a confined space, and, probably, lethal if used. Below is from the website for this item.....................

Ideal for budget applications where the sophistication of Truma etc is not needed and where good ventilation can be assured.
Minicat: 830 Watts. Consumption: 60 g/h.
Dimensions: 220mm W x 300mm H x 80mm D.
Midicat: 1350 Watts. Heat control. Uses: 100 g/h.
Dimensions: 285mm W x 400mm H x 80mm D.
Could also be used in an awning via a BBQ point - with the usual cautions about ventilation and keeping heat away from the awning fabric. Both are CE approved and complete with FFD (Flame Failure Device).
NB: Please ensure that these heaters are not used in closed spaces without adequate ventilation. Always maintain permanent and generous ventilation when heater is being used. Not approved for use in new build motorhomes or caravans. Popular elsewhere in everything from outdoor lodges and hides to touring outfits and could be good in some workshops too

Your call!!!

:scared:

Not strictly true hobs are butane / propane flueless and don't ventilate to the outside.

Good ventilation is a requirement for any appliance .

Where it is safe to uses them, nowadays safety instructions are very belt and braces where there is blame could be a claim. The issue is what is adequate ventilation EN 1949 has its rules re minimum on floorspace of a van or caravan.

I personally am uncomfortable with this type of heater in a MH but others no doubt will disagree
