After a drain down, when you refill if you have a air bubble or tank not quite filled. Is there a cut off not allowing to work on gas. Would not work last weekend, got home every thing seems ok , be nice to no what it was just in case of any more problems.

water heater

Hi Gary never had that problem before, however what I do after drain down is when I refill I run all taps hot and cold then turn them all off and wait for pump to stop then I know hot water tank and tap pipes are clear of air.

However I have found when I put on the switch for hot water to heat up, it does,nt always light straight away. I put it down to gas not being pressureised fully at the first time of asking:confused: . I,m not sure what all mhs do when travaling from site to site but I turn of the gas at the tank for safety. Hope this helps, all the best. TIM.

I do something similar. Close all taps before filling the tank then once filled run cold water through first the sink tap followed by wash basin and shower, then do the same for the hot water (without heating it of course).

Sometimes takes a while with a bit of spluttering - taps not me :) - but seems to work.

Please note that mine is not a Carver but is a Trumatic
regards graham/kath;)
Hello from one Graham to another :) ,

I didn't notice "Carver" in the thread header until after I posted my earlier reply. Dead observant aren't I :)

Our water heater is a Truma as well - Ultrastore model. The owners manual (Elddis) says that after filling the tank "turn the cold tap on until water flows" and then "prior to operation of the water heater, ensure water is flowing from hot tap".

I suppose it must be different for different models.

Truma Boiler

I take it you folks are talking about the refilling of boiler heater.
A Truma boiler is a Truma boiler. It does'nt matter on the make of your Motorhome. If it is a Truma,to fill for the very first time or refilling: 1) Check that the safety valve is closed. 2) Open the HOT tap and switch on the pump. 3) While the heater is filling with water, air will escape from the tap. Once the water is flowing fluently, your heater is full. (That's what it says in the Truma Instruction book)

Thank you all very much ,for your help.I shall make sure i fill the hot system first and let gas flow to all other components first. All ways do this on electric hook up before going away, hopefullywont have problem again, keep my eye on it,
