i just thought i'd let you know about a very helpful chap who runs a thread on a site called preloved, you may know of him but for those who don't it has a wealth of information and problem solving for carver water heaters and gasfires, just go to prloved site, campers and caravans and the name of his company is ARC he tiltes' his thread, ALL CARVER HEATERS AND FIRES, well something like that.
