Carp fishing in France

Along with 2 other vans, we want to do some carp fishing in the middle of France mid to late June this year. We don't want to be far away from a village or town as our ladies will want some diversions within walking distance. A river is not an option - it must be a lake or reservoir. Any ideas will be appreciated.

last week I was by the canal du midi , and spent half an hour watching a young man landing an 8Kg carpe

yesterday I mentioned it to a close friend of mine who is a keen fisherman [ salmon in canada and scotland is more his line though ] an he said that close to where we live is a lake famous for it's enormous carp ...people come from all over europe to try to land a specimen !

it's called the lac castelnau de mandailles [ locally as lac cabanac ] , it's in the lot valley ,have a look on google earth [post code of c.m is 12500

cost of a permit for the departement [ aveyron] is €10 for a day /€30 for a week etc , june is good as there is no night fishing july/august and watersports are permitted !

Commande permis de pêche en Aveyron

if you are interested , let me know if I can help

ps ...the record carp weight is apparently help by a dutchman
