Cardiff Stopover?

Need to visit son in Cardiff. We used to stay at Forest Farm, tucked into the entrance of an empty industrial unit. Unfortunately this unit is now rented out and they start early in the morning so I need to find somewhere else.
Van is 6.2 metres so we need a bit of space. Also don't like too much noise! Obviously could use campsite but don't like thought of spending more money after the cost of diesel getting there, plus the fact that visiting my son(s) ALWAYS means more expense than intended.
Any ideas folks?
 
There are a few POIs on the outskirts of Cardiff and one at the end of Roath park.
Several on Caerphilly mountain and some toward Penarth on the old Leckwith rd.
