I've visited the campsite for many many years and it as always been reasonably priced.
It was £14 for many years and a year ago I visited it was £17, then 2 months ago it had gone up to £19.50.
I rang on Friday to see if they had room and the staff answered plenty of room, I said thats unusual she replied there's been a change of management and the price has gone up to £25 a night and we only have a few vans in. There's probably room for 50 units.
This campsite is in the heart of the City of Cardiff in a large park and you have hell of a job to get in and I just rang on the off chance.
The campsite is council owned and remains so but I believe they leased out the business.

I decided not to book on principle and went wilding in Crickhowell and with the £50 I saved had the most amazing meal in the Bear pub sitting by a log fire.
Also think of the money I saved because my wife could not go shopping in Cardiff.

A good weekend I think.

The car park in Crichowell is great for wilding and is right in the town but was not noisy.

Good for you. Glad you had a good meal and it looks like a lot of others are doing the same. I think the next move of the council will be to ban motor homes overnighting in places like riverside etc., in Cardiff. :mad2:

Used the Sofia Gdns site last yr as my wife attended a conference there.

It was very busy and both of us don't like busy camps but it was convenient.

For what they offer the £17 was expensive, but £25 is ridiculous!!

Not for us.

I did not know you could wild in Riverside.

Do you know which part?

Been 18 months since I was last in Cardif but I always stopped at Riverside. Always parked under the trees as it is less noticabl;e but never got bothered at all, get there after 6 and leave sometime before 9ish . It isn't like the old dayss though when riverside was the red light area. LOL.

What a shame I was hoping the missus would earn a few pounds while we stay there.

I could always change the bulb to red in the outside light. LOL.

It was no good there anyway mate. My 'er in door went out one night and came back with £30-30p. I said to her "Bloody hell woman who gave you 30p?" She said. "All of them". :lol-049:
