caravan type door locks

compass avantgarde 200 has a caravan type door made of flymsey alloy with the handle and lock about three quarter way up the door. i find the door doesnt close up tight at the bottom and wondered about fitting another lock lowerdown near the bottom, has any body else had this problem and tried to do this.

Fiamma provide a number of products to increase caravan door security - take a look at their website. On my trailer van many years ago I replaced the original lock barrel with a high security version - it took about 15 mins.

The safe door frame lock needs a 3mm gap between door edge and jamb to fit. It will not close the door as such

Dooor lock

I have an Autoquest 400, these Fiamma locks I found to be unsuitable for the type of door that you have on your Motor home as its quite like my own.
Not enough space as already mentioned, as well as the proximity of the frame to the inside woodwork.

just an idea

is the door a one piece door or a barn style? if so....

then you could add another caravan style handle lock, (one with an internal handle that you push down to open), if top and bottom handles are the same you could connect them via a thin bar, like a panic bar on a fire escape door but smaller, then when you push the top handle down, the inner handle of the top handle connected to a rod will make the bottom handle operate the bottom lock too.

I thought his problem was one of security, a temptation to our crow bar wielding friends. Therefore a meaty Fiamma lock would (help to) prevent unauthorised access. I wasn't suggesting a cure for warped door.
