Caravan shower curtains

Hi
I have a Rapido with a sliding plastic door which is frankly a pain.
There are guiders affixed to the bottom edge which keep coming off, the track at the top is not really strong enough for holding the weight and the whole thing is difficult to use.
I am thinking of changing for a shower curtain and wonder whether anyone can recommend one and a suitable track?
Thanks

Hi Al.

Most I've seen seem to use either a pole or a domestic type curtain track and a fairly standard curtain.

Maybe take a trip to a decent sized caravan spares shop and see what they have for repairs and go from there, also look into some of the caravans for ideas.

Cheap on ebay of B&Q for rails and curtains, a bit of chrome/brace pole and clips works in a m home.

I would think pretty much any shower curtain you fancy will do the job?

You don't always need to use something that is specifically manufactured for a motorhome - for something simple like this the items in question are often outrageously overpriced for what they are!

If you want a flexible (bendy) track I did a quick 30 second search and found this which seems fairly cheap and I guess could also be used as a straight run track (as well as bendy if needed)? Cut to the length required 🤷‍♀️

Of course you do have to consider the resale value of the van at some point.

Why? If some of its features don't work for me I don't even consider the resale value and will change to suit.

If you are that bothered about resale value and the shower situation is irritating the hell out of you then maybe get rid and go for a different van with a better shower system? But good luck on that one too. From the many stories recounted on this forum over the years it seems to be pretty much pot luck when it comes to the quality and durability of habitation fixtures and fittings of many (modern) motorhomes.

A motorhome/camper to me has always been just a home on the road, so treat it the same as our permanent house. The resale value is irrelevant for me. But that's only because I've only ever been able to afford old bangers where wear and tear is automatically part of the deal. Altering something away from the original 'design' to make it more comfortable or easy for us to use won't have any major impact on the resale value anyway. 🤷‍♀️

Probably a different story with big ticket motorhomes, or for folk who regularly trade in and upgrade every 2 or 3 years, then maybe it makes sense to stick with paying a fortune to get 'only-lasted-5-minute' fixtures and fittings 'put right' by the manufacturer or their agents to keep the value high when subsequently selling or trading in for the next motorhome you fancy.

Our present vans shower door is different to any other we've had, it's magnetic along the entire opening edge and requires a bit of effort to open it, normally it's just been a normal door with a simple but useless button type catch.

Picked up 2 plain white curtains for our van from Dunelm, earlier this week £5 each. I'm sure they'd have rails there too at the right price.

Our sliding shower door was a pain when we removed it no shower curtain we just do without. It’s a shower toilet room and we are careful.

Not at all, neither of us is house proud, and I usually make some changes that others might not lie, but nothing permanent.

I have had my motorhome for ten years I bought it for me to do what I like ;) you would cringe at mine Pudsey 😂😂😂
Absolutely, what's the point if you can't enjoy/use it properly? I would draw the line at painting the inside walls bright pink, but if it's a functional change to make your usage better it's worth it.
I can't quite understand the people who put the brand new carpets in the loft to get them out when it's ready to sell. Takes all the fun out of lugging them all out of the MH, hanging them on a substantial rope line, beating the hell out of them, power washing them, and then finding somewhere to dry them.;)🤣:rolleyes:
