Caravan Club insurance

Got an excellant insurance quote off the CC for £189 (now I know I'm getting on) but then insisted I have to join them, so for an extra £37 DD I'm a member. My concern is I'm a self build, with no waste management in an old 2001 LDV. Are CC the wrong club with all the Middle Class, keeping up with the Jone's, they did ask for photo's, I don't have any but it has been registered as a motorhome with DVLA and VOSPA inspected so they accepted it.

While I got my cheap insurance, have I made a mistake joining CC or should I pursued the other one?

Been with Adrian Flux for a number of years but hated their poor service and over priced charges, so looked elsewhere. Most don't like one vehicle in household or that you park on the street. Strange as Chaucer quoted through other brookers did not want to know me but have been insured through Flux with them for the last few years. Shocked alot don't like self builds and other petty points in declining you!

I will look at all those faces as my old smoking LDV with exhaust fumes out of one pipe and waste out of another, have I done the right thing and joined the 'right' club!

I.ve been a member of CC for 25 years( I have the badge to prove it!!!)
Our first three vans were a commercialy built but the last two were self build.

The present one is a 2000 LDV.It is clean and tidy, self contained when we wild camp which is the majority of the time.

We like the CC because of Red Pennant insurance which we use for travelling abroad. We always got a good deal with general Insurance .but we changed to CIS a few years ago.

We have never felt out of place on their sites. We had a weekend at the Southport site just before Christmas. The sites are very good( as are C&CC sites)Just too expensive for regular use.

As a compromise between full sites and wild camping both clubs have a very good network of CLs which are excellent for topping up with water and emptying tanks.

We are also members of C&CC,they have the advantage of temporary sites which are run for a few weeks at a time for a moderate fee(£5-6).

Just because You are a member doesnt mean You have to use the sites regularly, just use the benefits that suit you wether that is cheap insurance,CLS ,sites or the magazine.
