Can anyone help me with changing my leisure battery??

Hi everyone! I'm currently getting to grips with my first campervan! I'm wanting to install a new leisure battery... I have a zig unit....

What I want to know is... do I need to also disconnect the engine battery before I connect the new leisure battery?? I disconnected the old one no problems, just made sure everything was switched off on the zig. Wiring looks rather complicated round the main battery so if I can get away with simply connecting the new leisure one without paying someone to disconnect the engine battery it would be good, but obviously safety comes first.....thanks in advance guys....xx

Hi, it might be a good idea to just disconnect the negative battery terminal on the van, while you connect the new leisure battery just to be sure....jack

If you have a solar panel you should disconnect the solar panel from the regulator before you disconnect the battery then reconnect the new battery then the solar panel. I don't see that you should have any problems with the engine battery being connected.

Always a good idea to put vaseline on the battery terminals, nothing to lose by it & it stops them corroding.
