Hi can anyone tell us , if it is possible to ferry our motorhome to canada , can't seem to find anything to say we can or can't , and if we can how much roughly is it .
thank Pam

dont see why not, but it may be cheaper to book a r.v holiday over there you may have a problem with breakdown cover to get the van back if the worst should happen

Hi Pam10, Forget it. Yes you can ferry your MH to Canada. It takes about 6/7 weeks and you must be at the Port to pick it up and for it's return journey. I wanted to ship mine to BC (British Columbia) The cost was at the time £2200 each way. It is cheaper to rent but that too comes expensive. My sister in Canada queried it for me and the Rental came out approx: $900 per week + insurance extra. Hope this helps.

thanks for your reply , thought it would be expensive . as you say cheaper to hire out there . Pam

Motorhome swap.

I see that a some people swap their motorhomes with others for two weeks at a time, mainly seen swaps with New Zealand. I'm not sure I would want somebody else using mine.

Hi Locksmith, you are right. I have seen the odd post on here about swapping MH's. A guy from Oz posted on here a couple of years ago. On another occassion in 2008, I met an English couple in Denmark who exchanged with a Newzealander. When they returned, they found their MH in a very sorry state. They said it cost them nearly £2000, to get things right. So your suggestion that you would not like to swop, is understandable.

I've been through this ; it depends how long you want to be there !
shipping to BC is about a long as voyage to canada as you can do , cheaper to ship to the eastern seaboard on a RORO

personally I just went and purchased a used one , just before I came back I compared notes with some italians who had hired one for 3 weeks ....it cost them more than it cost me for a year [ depreciation , maintenance/ insurance etc ]

so how long did you have in mind ?

Lebesset has the right idea. I for one when I go to OZ, buy a cheap car for $3000 when I stay for 3 months. My sister sells it for me when I return to the UK, last year she sold it for $2750. Not bad for 3 months motoring.

Fly drive is better, try Canadream RV rental, they have depots all over Canada.
