Any C&C members here get the latest mag.? If so take in the "Letter" on page 12. I'm minded to write an answering letter saying the reason I prefer to Wildcamp is if I stay on C&C sites I might be sited next to a boring, bigoted, twot, like Mr Harmer.

I thought the letter quite reasonable, the author was bemoaning the fact that Motorhomers had taken over a local car park abusing the public toilets and taking too much free water, and locals could not park, he apparently had the decency to speak to the offenders to no avail it seems and the end result was height barriers so no Motorhomers can now get in there as usual the few spoil it for the majority, He did call wild campers spongers, though, his opinion obviously.

Just read it!!:mad1:
I can understand him getting upset if someone has overstayed and left a mess but surely not every van has? I thought the whole point of a motorhome is to be self sufficient (if you so wish), the freedom to move around?
If he prefers to go on site all the time then thats his choice, but remember Mr Harmer, it's each individuals choice!
oh and Does he never use a public toilet while visiting an area??
We pay our way, we pay Road Tax, Insurance, Fuel, and a lot of us probably have a car which we pay road tax, insurance and fuel on too! Just because we dont want to pay £25 per night to sit on a site surrounded by caravans and awnings with no view or atmosphere doesnt mean we sponge!!
Could we as a club get a relpy to the magazine quoting our wilding code?
:pc:

not only do we need a letter stating our wild camping code ,but i think an appology ,for birsmerching our club and members p.s i am putting my car up for sale and buying a dual purpose mpv carry the family arround with seven seats in comfort and also will be able to remove the rear seats put some curtains up and get a portable gas ring so we will be able to sleep a night or two so it looks as if we are back to wilding even if its only a toyota previa or a renault espace . missing kipping in laybies and car parks or by the beach .once a wilder always a wilder. or am i acording mr moaner oh sorry harmer just a scrounger silly old sod

Hi All,

There are two threads on this subject, see (motorhome user calls us spongers} also in general chat

I have cancelled my C&C membership - hardly used it in 2 yrs.

In my opinion the article just shows that if you abuse a facility we will all lose out ultimately. Reminds me of the guy in another thread who advocated buying keys for disabled toilets. Maybe he's the same guy as the one complained of in the C&C letter?

dont think we will ever be stopped from parking our campers /m/homes freely , i.e not staying on a caravan site . ok we may lose out on car parks in town centers or nice places near the sea that we used to over night in ,but there will always be somewhare we can park and stay overnight even if it means a layby . take one place ,lets say scarborough for instance ,during the day you find a nice spot you pays your parking fees and it states no overnight parking .ok one reason may be that the local camp site owners has a big sway on the council ,so if you had a car and caravan you would pay the site fees but if you wanted to go into the town you would have to use your car and still pay parking fees nothing lost there then one way m/homers are one up on all concerned . we dont have to pay site fees and when we go into the center we dont need to use any shop ,or caff or fish shop or pub infact nothing at all apatrt from a couple of bob in the amusements if so needed in fact we dont need to spend one penny in the town .we stay all day make our own food and tea make a few butties go on the beach then at night we drive to the nearest layby and do it all again tomorow we dont have to stay on a camp site there to give 25 quid to some fat old big headed camp site owner that charges through the nose for a bit of grass and leccy hookup that wont run a telly and hairdrier both together . and then be surrounded by penny millionares up to there eyes in chukky for there top of the range outfit strutting round eating fancy food for one night and then feasting on jam butties all week and pulling there hair out because the cannot pay there debts . so doing it the right way means the traders there also the camp site owners lose out .in other words we dont spend money on camp sites also being self sufficient food wise we dont need caffs or the shops either only thing is we have to pay parking fees but then again if you know where to go and get there early enough you will always find free parking somewhare where ever you go .why spend money where we are not welcome ,dont we go for the sun sea and air thats free so no need to fill ungratefull peoples pockets for stuff we dont need i never have and never will and with all the money you have saved you can put more fuel in the van AND GO FURTHER . SOD EM ALL WE ARE IN A WIN WIN SITUATION

I'm cancelling my sub to the C&C Club and joining the Caravan Club, mainly because every CS I pass is one of theirs, I rarely see a C&C CL.

I had both, hardly used either :(

but would agree that CC is probably better value of the two, even if they are a bit up themselves on some sites.
