From what's about £300/500 seem to be the going rate, but recomend you get a timing belt kit and water pump change at the same time there's only a half hr extra labour to do this as your in amongst it at that time

£270 all in for the Timing Belt, Pulley, Tensioner and the Auxillary ( Alternator ) Belt.

I`ve just had mine done a few weeks back.

Mines a 2006 2.8 but as far as i am aware the 2.3 and 2.8 are similarly priced.

I`m sure the last sentence will soon be shot down in flames if it`s wrong ........................ LOL

On a 2.8 2004 was quoted £600 + VAT by fiat.

Paid £450 for independent to do it.

Having mine (on a '04 boxer) replaced next week during the yearly service, cambelt inc. all the pulleys etc. & fitting is £335.00.

Being done by Robins & Day, main Peugeot agents who recommend replacement after 10 years or 72,000 miles (down from 96,000)

I ignore those scare stories about having them done after 5 years.

I go to euro parts for the bits and get my tame mechanic to fit them. Quick fit once refused to mot my golf because the cam belt was past replacement date. Needless to say I haven't been back....

This sounds about right to me.
C&M Auto services Lancaster. Specialises in Fiat vans and motorhomes. Cambelt any Ducato £225. Uses Gates kits and gives a 2 year warranty.

Had mine done at a local garage (03 Boxer) in 2011 together with FULL service. Total cost £536 + Vat I see the cambelt kit cost £67 = Vat

Dicks! condition of the engine, clutch and gearbox is not included in an mot.

I had the timing belt changed on my 2002 2.3 Ducato-based Chausson in November 2012 for £261 at a local garage. They have been pretty reasonably priced for everything I have had done there and I go there for any work I need, including MOTs, so I expect this is less than you'd pay at a bigger, more anonymous outfit. The van had only done 22,000 miles, but as it was 10 years old at the time, I thought it prudent to get it changed.

No but some wont do the emissions test unless they're sure the belts in good order, if it snaps on them when they rev it they'd be in bother.

Correct there's a disclaimer form by vosa/garage if you can't provide evidence of belt replacement as previous post stated in case it snapped when emissions are carried out

This is true, but they told me they wouldn't go to max rpm for the emissions check because of the age of the belt, they also said they couldn't test the rear seat belts because of the dog cover on the seat.

Thanks for your response all. My quotes were £241 and £500 the latter included the water pump and both were for full kits. Unfortunately the cheaper one won't do it as the van is too big. The £500 one said that if the pump is OK it would be cheaper. Engine type changed at the time my van was registered which could alter the price (in my favour as I think it is the older one) - 56.

Let ya know

Had a bloke round to give me a quote for doing the job at home - he never called back!
Going with the expensive quote as they agrees to mot it at the same time and they actually seem interested in doing the work.

Mine has just been done this week...2001 Fiat 2.8 JTD for £158 plus vat
