just had a quote for cambelt /kit and fitting £170+vat, full service +vat £130 , for ducato 2.8 jtd

TAKE IT, TAKE IT. It's a good price and what it cost me before my jaunt to France and gave me a lot of piece of mind

Had my cam belt done in April this year and was charged the same as you have been quoted. Not seen it offered anywhere else for less.

what do they do for a full service ? I do my servicing according to the schedule except I do it more frequently , and including a quality oil which I import from germany [ made by Fuchs ] it cost me about £40 [ £50 every second time as I change the fuel filter ]

I suppose if you go to the official agent they would stick in the computer and look at that , but that would be a different price , but other than the service items what do they do to charge you £100 for labour ?

cambelt price looks sensible though

Yes the price looks very good. Don't forget to get them to check out the water pump and any bearings while they have it striped down. Also as well as the belts you possibly need the tensioners and associated bits changed.
Have a talk to them and ask exactly what they do for the price.

Hi price includes new pullies, tensioner, fan belt, will get him to check water pump. will try to find some kind person to do service.

Hi thanks for reply , will try to find some kind person to do the servicing, for a good price.

presuming you have the 8041 engine , the service takes about 20 minutes and the only tools you need are an oil filter removal tool , an old bucket to empty the oil into , and a biggish allen key to undo the sump plug ...you should check the service book though in case an extended service is require , doesn't sound like that is what you were quoted for

if it is time to change the fuel filter , you need more time !!! you have to remove the air filter housing to get at it if you have the same housing as mine , simple job but fiddly

no pit or lift required , bit of tarp on the ground , oil filter an drain plug easily accessed...have a look

pair of old gloves and you won't get your hands dirty

i use fuchs oil, or did, cant find it locally now, GSF stopped selling it due to a price rise quite a lot they said.

if anyone is wondering what it is, as they havent heard of it, its one of the best oils made by a german co. all the top german car companies use it, bmw etc etc. so you know its top notch......

no use, i aint gonna pop down and back for a bit of oil. not paying for delivery too.

Tis supplied to Autofactor companies all over the UK. You need to find a local stockist:banana:
The HO in Stoke would not sell direct anyway! ha ha ha

could you give me the name of the garage, i have just been quoted £350 plus vat. would be worth travelling.

i do my own servicing cam belts and repairs the only thing i pay out for
is welding. and when changing cam belts ive always been taught that its common knowledge to change the water pump at the same time

Fuch Titan ST1 5W-40 simply the best. Blended in Stoke-on-Trent and available nationwide.

Hi Yorkslass, garage is Tyrex Shepshed leic.s m1 junc 23. tel 01509508001, ask for Mark regards BAZ.

Excuse my ignorence but what's so special about Fuchs that it will cost me over £100 just to do an oil change?

I'm not having a go, I seriously want to know what's so great about the stuff.

Or is it the same as tyres where you can buy top of the range tyres or middling tyres? The most telling comment made to me about middle of the range tyres was "for the mileage I do, at the speeds I don't do..."
